When looking into my REST logs for another purpose, I ran across a surprisingly high SOC and reached out to [email protected] for analysis.

I noticed that despite having my v4.4 vehicle being set to "standard" charge that on occasion it rises higher. I was somewhat surprised that my REST logs show that it reached as high as 96% SOC. Furthermore it seemed to rise from 244 rated to 248 rated in 18 seconds on a 216V/40A 14-50 receptacle.

I thought it might be useful to have you guys pull the logs and see if there's something interesting with the algorithm going on. AFAIK, my vehicle is generally behaving within expected parameters w/r/t charging but this data point was quite unusual.

Just sharing telemetry data in case the engineers want to analyze. No rush.

I have fuller logs than what was posted and can provide them if wanted.

Thanks.

I have reached out to the Engineering Department, they have reviewed your car logs, and with the new FW 4.5 software this condition will not continue and the vehicle will charge to the exact percentage you select. Please be reassured that the battery is performing normal. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.

Good to know.
Can I get any more details about the changes in 4.5 that address this? If not, that's fine.

You can reference the changes on the release notes are on your center display, that should give you all the information that is available at this moment.

I didn't find more details in the release notes beyond the general description here:
4.5 (v1.33.48) said:
Standard and Max Range have been replaced by a slider that let's you choose what % you want to charge the car to. For daily driving, choose between 50% and 90% to improve battery longevity. Anything above 90% is the equivalent of Max Range. 90% might give you a different range than 'Standard' used to.

Note: v1.33.51 has different text here. Update incoming...

4.5 (v1.33.51) said:
With this release, we have replaced the two charge level options (Standard and Max Range) with a slider that allows you to specify the charge level more precisely.
For daily driving, set the charge limit anywhere within the "Daily" section. Set the charge limit higher--within the "Trip" area--for roadtrips.
Note: We will select a charge limit after the update that is close to the previous Standard setting. Because of a change in the way we determine when to stop charging, you will see a different range compared to previous charging.
  • To adjust the setting, tap the "Set Charge Limit" button and slide to the desired value.
  • The new setting will apply for both scheduled and immediate charging.
