Report: Lucid Motors Considering Sale to Ford

Lucid Motors has held early-stage takeover talks with Ford, according to a report from Bloomberg.

The company is currently soliciting new financing and reportedly reached out directly to Ford about the possibility of a deal. But, it sounds like Ford isn’t ready to pull the trigger just yet, as new Chief Executive Officer Jim Hackett is conducting a 100-day review of the company’s roadmap. Still, there’s interest.

Bloomberg reported that Lucid has also hired Morgan Stanley to help raise funding for further development of its vehicle and a new manufacturing plant in Arizona. Lucid has said it plans to ship its $60,000 electric vehicle in 2019, offering 240 miles of electric-powered range. The company recently released a video of its 1,000 horsepower prototype reaching a speed of 235 mph.
