Boring Company Releases Map of Route Connecting Baltimore and Washington

The Boring Company has released a map of the proposed route for an underground transit system between Baltimore and Washington.

According to the company’s website, “the proposed twin tunnels would run in parallel for approximately 35 miles from downtown DC to downtown Baltimore, beneath New York Avenue and then the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. This would serve as the central artery for a potential future transportation network which would hopefully be extended to New York.

The company says the system will enable a 15-minute commute between the two cities.

The Boring Company says the system will transport passengers on autonomous electric skates traveling at 125-150 miles per hour. The skates will carry between 8 and 16 passengers, or a single passenger vehicle.

The Baltimore-Washington project would be the first part leg of a route that would connect New York to Washington in less than a half-hour. The Boring Company says the project is completely privately funded. Construction would take between 12 and 20 months depending on the achieved speed of the boring machine.
