Tesla Adds More Cushion to Model 3 Rear Seat

Following recent criticism from Consumer Reports of the Model 3’s ride comfort, it seems Tesla has beefed up the back seat.

TMC Member ergela shared photos comparing seats from Model 3 with a VIN in the 18,000s and Model 3 with a VIN 14,000s that shows the newer car has more cushion.

Consumer Reports said in its initial report that it couldn’t recommend the Model 3, mostly due to braking performance. But, the magazine also said “the Model 3’s stiff ride, unsupportive rear seat and excessive wind noise at highway speeds also hurt its road-test score. In the compact luxury sedan class, most competitors deliver a more comfortable ride and rear seat.

Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted thanks to Consumer Reports on May 30 and said that “ride comfort” had already been addressed.

After Tesla made swift improvements to the car, Consumer Reports says it now recommends the car.

“Wish we could make the car perfect from day 1, but there’s always room for improvement,” Musk tweeted.
