Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk attended an event Tuesday at Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai to celebrate mass delivery of Chinese-built Model 3s. Tesla also officially launched the Model Y at the factory, which is expected to go to production this year.
While Tesla’s advancement in the largest car market in the world is important news, it was Musk’s dance moves that got the most attention. Musk bounced, swayed, and shimmied. He removed his jacket. Then, he bounced, swayed, and shimmied some more.
It was a celebratory event after all. The construction of both the factory and the first Model 3s in China have been amazing accomplishments within a year.
Equally exciting is the upcoming production of the Model Y. Tesla started taking orders for the Y a few days ago. The company is expected to ramp up production of the SUV quickly, as it shares about 75% of its parts with the Model 3.
Tesla says it’s already producing about 3,000 vehicles per week to Gigafactory 3.
