Giga Berlin-Built Model Y Could Roll Out in 2021

European customers waiting for a Tesla Model Y will need Giga Berlin to be built in a speedy manner.

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said on Twitter that the factory will supply the Model Y for customers in Switzerland, suggesting that construction of the factory will be key to the rollout across Europe.

Musk also said that the car would be available in “about a year.” Tesla has already said the Model Y will be the first vehicle off the line at the new factory.

Tesla has been doing ground work and securing permits for construction of its new factory near Berlin.

The company was able to take Giga Shanghai from an empty field to a factory producing cars in about one year. Hopefully Tesla can achieve the same speed when building Giga Berlin and stick to Musk’s timeline for Model Y customers.
