Boring Company Proposal Hints at 12-Passenger Tesla Van

Tesla may build a 12-passenger electric van to be used in high-speed tunnels dug by the Boring Company, according to a report from the Mercury News.

The information emerged from a San Bernardino County Transportation Authority meeting that included a proposal from Boring Company to construct a tunnel connecting Rancho Cucamonga with Ontario International Airport.

San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman told the Mercury News that the proposal originally called for specially designed Tesla cars. “But Hagman said the company is working with Tesla to develop electric vans that can seat up to 12 people and their luggage, enlarging the capacity to 1,200 people per day, or 10 million-plus per year,” the report said.

The agency voted to pursue the proposal.

Tesla mentioned in its Master Plan, Part Deux that a “high passenger-density urban transport” vehicle is on its list of future vehicles.
