Tesla Cybertruck Delayed Until 2022

Tesla’s online configurator now shows that the upcoming Cybertruck will not be delivered until 2022.

The delay is not a huge surprise. Production of the vehicle is facing a number of challenges including completion of the Texas factory where it will be built, as well as ongoing supply chain issues and ship shortages.

An online tracker of Tesla Cybertruck says the all-electric pickup now has more than 1.25 million orders.

Tesla has already said that the first production units of the pickup will not roll off the line until the company can get its Model Y production up and running. Chief Executive Elon Musk previously said the Cybertruck would only be in limited production at the end of this year, with mass production starting in 2022.

Tesla has experienced similar delays with its refreshed Model S and Model X. Deliveries of the new Model S happened months later than expected and the Model X has yet to be delivered. Other EV companies such as Rivian and Lucid have also had to delay the delivery of highly-anticipated vehicles due to supply chain issues.
