Tesla’s Summon feature is a fun way to impress friends and it sounds like more tricks are on the way.
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said on Twitter that “Advanced Summon” will be rolled out next year, enabling vehicles to drive around a parking lot, locate an empty spot, recognize and read signs to confirm that a parking spot is valid, and initiate a parking sequence. Musk said the feature will be deployed in about 6 weeks through an over-the-air update to all cars equipped with Autopilot Hardware V2+.
Musk said owners will be able to drove their Tesla from a phone app “like a big RC car.” And the car will “follow you like a pet” if you hold down a button on the app.

Musk revealed the upcoming features after another Twitter user shared a video of using Summon to move his car from afar to avoid a parking fine.
