Elon Musk tweeted pictures Saturday of the first production model of the the highly anticipated Model 3.
Musk said the car – black with 19″ wheels – will be his own. Ira Ehrenpreis, an early Tesla investor and board member, originally had the right to the car, but gifted it to Musk for his birthday.
Ira Ehrenpreis had rights to 1st car as he was 1st to place a full deposit, but gave those rights to me as my 46th bday present. Tks Ira!

Tesla has targeted a price tag of $35,000 for the base Model 3, but with few details about available options it’s unclear how expensive a Model 3 can be. Though, the company has said that options on the Model 3 will be far fewer than on other models.

Tesla plans to hand over the first 30 Model 3s to customers at an event on July 28. The company hopes to scale production to 100 cars in August, more than 1,500 in September, and 20,000 per month by December.
