Peter Rive, a co-founder and chief technology officer of SolarCity, is leaving the company, according to a report from Greentech Media.
Rive was heavily involved in developing Tesla’s solar roof, which went on sale in the spring.
“Work on Solar Roof is being transitioned to other Tesla engineering leaders, who are among the brightest, most accomplished on the planet. I have no doubt they will be able to execute on the plans we have for Solar Roof, which is in my opinion is one of the most important products of the century,” Rive wrote in a letter to employees published by Greentech.
Rive is also the brother of former SolarCity CEO Lyndon Rive, who left the company in May.
