Model 3 Produces Nearly 400 Horsepower on Dyno

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]TMC member Mysterylectric has given us a look at what the Model 3 can do on a dyno.

According to a YouTube video of the test:

We hadn’t seen any dyno runs of the Model 3, so we did one of our own. 2018 Tesla Model 3, Long Range premium, first production run car, VIN 179x. Took some time to get the dyno calibrated, and obviously had to run through wheel speed instead of through motor RPM (Calibrated at 113 RPM per MPH). Horsepower of 393.6, on a car that weighs 3700ish pounds.

Tesla rates the Model 3 at 271 horsepower for the long range version, a significant difference in the nearly 400 horsepower produced in the dyno test.

Tesla is absolutely sand bagging this car. From 30mph rolls, we were getting consistent 250hp range pulls (you can see it in the TV during the calibration run). Once we dropped the speed down below 15mph, the horsepower jumped considerably.
