Falcon 9 “Block 5” Successful in Telstar 19V Mission

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]SpaceX recorded today a second successful flight for the “Block 5” version of the Falcon 9 rocket.

The rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station around 1:50 a.m. ET and the first stage successfully landed on a drone ship off the Florida coast nine minutes later.

The “Block 5” is the latest version of SpaceX’s rocket, with a first stage booster said to be capable of 100 flights or more. The ability to reuse those boosters makes an enormous impact on the cost of spaceflight, a key to SpaceX’s strategy.

The first “Block 5″ rocket was launched in May.

Today’s mission carried the Telstar 19V satellite, which will provide broadband service to customers throughout the Americas and Atlantic Ocean region.
