[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Jay Leno was recently treated to a thorough walk-through of the next-generation Tesla Roadster by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen. What’s more, he got a ride in the highly-anticipated, all-electric supercar.
Leno seemed giddy as the acceleration of the Roadster sucked him into his seat back. “I’ll buy it! I’ll take it!” he screamed.
It’s high praise from a man whose insane stable of supercars includes McLarens and Ford GTs.
Tesla’s next version of the Roadster is designed to “give a hardcore smackdown to gasoline-powered cars,” Chief Executive Elon Musk has said. The car has three electric motors and is capable of 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, running the quarter-mile in 8.8 seconds, and a top speed of more than 250 mph. With a 200 kWh battery, range is expected to be 620 miles on a single charge. And, that’s just the base model. Musk has hinted that a performance version will have even more impressive specs. Production is expected to begin in 2020.
