Musk Tells Employees Company is on Cusp of Profitability

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk sent a note to employees over the weekend saying the company was very close to achieving its goal of profitability, according to a report from Bloomberg.

“We are very close to achieving profitability and proving the naysayers wrong, but, to be certain, we must execute really well tomorrow (Sunday),” Musk reportedly wrote in the email to staff. “If we go all out tomorrow, we will achieve an epic victory beyond all expectations.”

The third quarter ended Sunday and Tesla was racing to deliver as many vehicles as possible. The company is expected to post strong delivery numbers, but it’s not clear if it will be able to tout a profit.

The note to employees was reportedly sent shortly after the SEC announced that Musk had agreed to a settlement that would require him to step down as chairman.

Tesla is expected to release official production and delivery numbers this week.
