Tesla has filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark “Teslaquila” for “distilled agave liquor” and “distilled blue agave liquor.”
Following news of the trademark filing, Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted that the spirit is “coming soon.”

Musk’s first reference to Teslaquila was during a series of April 1 prank tweets saying the carmaker was going bankrupt. “Elon was found passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by ‘Teslaquilla’ bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks,” the tweet said.
While it’s a bit strange for an automaker to produce an alcoholic beverage, there’s certainly been plenty to drive the company to drink this year.
