SpaceX’s rocket previously known as BFR (Big Falcon Rocket) is being renamed “Starship.”
The rocket is key to Elon Musk’s Mars-colonizing plans.
“Renaming BFR to Starship,” Musk said on Twitter.

Musk further explained that Starship is the upper stage of the rocket, while “Super Heavy” will be the name of the rocket booster.
Technically, two parts: Starship is the spaceship/upper stage & Super Heavy is the rocket booster needed to escape Earth’s deep gravity well (not needed for other planets or moons)

Musk unveiled in September a major change in design for the system. And early this week, he said the company is working on a new design, which he described as a “radical change” and “delightfully counterintuitive.”
The rocket is expected to be the most powerful launcher ever built.
