Musk Says ‘News’ Coming at 2 p.m. PT

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk on Wednesday changed his Twitter name to “Elon Tusk” while announcing that he would share “news” at 2 p.m. PT on Thursday.

Not surprisingly, the tweet excited Tesla watchers who began speculating on what could be announced.

Some of the guesses included a Supercharger network upgrade, new details on the upcoming Model Y all-electric crossover SUV, and an update on the hardware necessary for full self-driving.

Fans seem to be rooting for news on the Model Y, which Musk said he has approved for production. In fact, he said the vehicle will hit volume production by the end of 2020.

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas also took some guesses. He suggested that the news could be related to a $920 million convertible bond repayment due on Friday, but also the unveiling of a pickup truck or a strategic partnership.
