Tesla Launches Leasing Program for Model 3

Tesla’s Model 3 is now available for lease, the company said Thursday.

U.S. customers can lease any Model 3 variant with “a small down payment and competitive monthly payments,” according to a blog post. Tesla will offer annual mileage options of 10,000, 12,000, or 15,000 miles.

Tesla said customers who choose leasing over owning will not have the option to purchase their car at the end of the lease, because “with full autonomy coming in the future via an over-the-air software update,” Tesla plans to use those vehicles in the Tesla ride-hailing network.

Tesla’s proposed ride-hailing network would use its own fleet of company-owned cars, as well as customer’s cars who could make money by lending out their vehicle for use on the network.
