Tesla to Give Free Supercharging, Extra Range to Owners in Path of Dorian

Tesla will offer free Supercharging and unlock more range for Tesla owners in the path of Hurricane Dorian.

Tesla has done the same for previous hurricanes. During Hurricane Michael last year and Hurricane Irma in 2017, Tesla rolled out an update that offered more range to software-limited battery packs like the Model S 60 and S 70. For Hurricane Michael, Model 3 owners also received free supercharging.

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter the plan to help those impacted by the storm.

Florida has been placed in a state of emergency as a result of Hurricane Dorian.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said Friday the Florida Highway Patrol would soon begin escorting fuel trucks to help resupply gas stations, as many have been drained by the number of cars trying to escape the storm’s path.

The hurricane is expected to make landfall on Monday with potential winds of up to 130 mph.
