Tesla Gigafactory 4 to Be Built Near Berlin

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk reportedly told attendees at an auto industry event that the automaker’s fourth Gigafactory will be built just outside Berlin, Germany.

Musk was receiving the Golden Steering Wheel Award from German auto publication Auto Bild Tuesday when he made the announcement.

Musk has been talking about building a factory in Europe for several years and has hinted that a location would be announced by end of the year.

Tesla just completed construction of a Gigafactory located in Shanghai where the company intends to manufacture the Model 3 and Model Y for the Chinese market. Tesla also operates Gigafactories in Buffalo, New York and outside Reno, Nevada. Tesla also has a plant in Fremont, California where it assembles vehicles.
