Edmunds Names Model 3 EV of the Year

Edmunds, an online resource for automotive information, has named the Tesla Model 3 as its Best Electric Vehicle of the Year.

“The Model 3 is unlike any other vehicle on sale, electric or ICE,” Edmunds wrote. “Its features, technology, price and driving dynamics make it an impossible force to ignore.”

The review and recommendation was part of the Edmunds Top Rated 2020 feature. The ratings were based on a full test of the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus.

Scores were strong across all areas of evaluation, but the outlet had some complaints about the vehicle’s touchscreen.

“Our only gripe concerns the central touchscreen system,” Edmunds wrote. “Because almost all of the Model 3’s controls are tied to it, you have to divert your attention from the road to do something as simple as adjusting the wiper speed.”

Still, the outlet recommended the Model 3 above all other EVs.

“For around $40,000, no other EV even comes close to matching the all-round appeal of the Model 3,” Edmunds wrote.
