SpaceX Starlink Constellation Grows to 240

SpaceX successfully deployed Wednesday its fourth batch of Starlink satellites in a mission that launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The mission to launch a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 60 Starlink satellites had been delayed for several days due to weather. But, an opening on Wednesday morning allowed SpaceX to add to its growing fleet of satellites tasked with beaming internet service back to to Earth.

It was the second Starlink mission this month and brings total deployed to 240. SpaceX Chief Executive Elon Musk has said his plan will require at least 420 satellites to provide minor broadband coverage of Earth, and up to 1,600 to provide moderate coverage.

Monday’s launch also marked the company’s 49th successful landing of the rocket’s first stage booster. Check out the launch broadcast above.
