Tesla May Discount Basic Autopilot for LRRWD Model 3 Owners

Owners of the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive configuration of the Model 3 may be able to add Autopilot at a discounted price.

Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, replying to a suggestion from a LRRWD owner, said on Twitter that the company will discuss giving owners such an option and make it available for purchase via the Tesla app.

Autopilot became standard in vehicles bought after April 2019, but early Model 3 owners had to pay $3,000 for the feature.

The argument from owners of the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive – the first version of the Model 3 to come to market – is that Tesla should but them a deal on the features that now come standard. And, maybe it will tip them over into buying the upgraded Full Self Driving version.

While there’s no additional information on how much the discount would be or when it would be available, it’s good news for owners of early Model 3s.
