Autopilot 2.0 Gets a Speed Bump

Tesla rolled out an update (8.0.2.17.9.3) to vehicles equipped with second generation Autopilot hardware that increases speeds, but fails to match the the company’s first generation Autopilot.

Both Traffic Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer are seeing increases of 5 mph:
– Traffic Aware Cruise Control increased from 80 to 85 mph
– Autosteer speed limit on highways increased from 50 to 55 mph (90 km/h)

Tesla has been cautious with the new version of Autopilot, which has struggled do to difficulty with an in-house hardware and software effort that doesn’t meet the performance of its first system using Mobileye’s technology.
