Strange Carfax Report? Help?😅

I am attaching a picture of the carfax.

Hello, I am looking at purchasing this 2022 Tesla Model 3. The carfax shows 2 owners. The 2nd half of the car shows, "Dealer took title of this
vehicle while it was in inventory". The first owner drove to 9,670 miles.

This is all under Owner 2: It shows new owner reported (2 owner) on 12/22/2023. On 1/30/2024
at 9,670 miles it was serviced at AutoNation. On 3/21/2024 it shows "Vehicle Purchase Reported"
in Montana. The vehicle where I am purchasing is in Texas. On 3/26/2024, it shows title issued or updated in Montana with 24,012 miles with "Dealer took title of this vehicle while it
was in inventory. Does this not look extremely weird or concerning?
fnot, can someone explain to me please? How such a huge mileage jump 1/30/2024 to 3/26/2024? What's the "Dealer took title of this vehicle while it was in inventory". I am not
purchasing it from AutoNation either.

Making the final payment

Hi,
I'm paying cash for my car, the Tesla app is giving me details to wire them the final payment but my bank has a transaction limit of 25k which is not enough. Has anyone else had to deal with this? Did you do 2 payments? the bank(Nationwide) say I can do a CHAPS payment for the full amount but need the company(Tesla) address details etc that aren't in the info in the app. Anyone have experience with this situation?

Model 3 roof glass crack

There is the crack on the roof glass.
No impact from outside

I asked the Tesla service at Parramatta.

They gave me the estimate $3520.

They can do the inspection. But they never done this problem under warranty.

I really do not understand Tesla's policy.

O'Brien glass , they do not Tesla roof glass.

Do you have this same problem ?

What is the best solution for this problem ?

First Tesla purchase turning sour.

Bought a nice looking 2013 Model S with 140,000 miles today for under $9k at auction. It was sold with an auction guaranty to be free of major defects. I go to test drive it and its in a reduced power mode and there are messages to get it charged immediately. I'm able to limp it to the charger at the auction going 5 mph. Of course they are occupied and it's after 3 pm now. You have until 5 pm to submit a claim, but it will be a few hours before it's charged up enough so I can even take it for a drive. I was able to convince a manager of the issue, that I can't even drive it, and she said that after it's charged in the morning, they will check it out and go from there.

Ideally, the seller brought the car there without enough charge, and all it needs is recharging and then it will show there is no problem. I can't fathom anyone bringing a car in like that to sell. My pessimistic thoughts say there is something wrong with the battery or electronics on the car. What's the track record of these early Teslas? I have always read on the internet that the batteries are good for at least 20 years or more and the car should be able to go over 500,000 miles on the original battery. Any early Tesla owners here with insight?

PowerShare for All Teslas & Integration - speculation

Hi all, there has to be others out there with Tesla Solar/PowerWalls of course, that are highly interested in PowerShare coming out soon. It was mentioned that it will be coming in 2025 for all Teslas, and it's rolling out now/soon with the Cybertruck it seems. Look forward to seeing that working. It also seems that there are two setups:
1) new owners/customers without existing Tesla systems need to get the Gateway v3 that integrates with it very easily.
2) existing solar/powerwall owners also seem to easily do PowerShare as well, with software controlling it and your existing bidirectional (Tesla Universal charger as of now) charger that is hooked up at to your whole home/system panel, at 50 amps (60 amp breaker).

I'm on the fence as have a CT on order but for example would probably prefer to get an MX with PowerShare instead as an SUV.

Creating this forum to really share with others that are waiting for the same to become available, share news around PowerShare becoming available on all models and CT reviews of it if first, and best practices around how it works/integrates overall. In the future hopefully/likely to non-Teslas as well.

Precondition battery for supercharging before leaving hotel

I stayed at a hotel that has a supercharger 3 miles away. My car had been sitting in the cold all night so the first thing I did after waking up was to precondition the car and set the supercharger as the destination in the navigation. After breakfast I drove to the supercharger and was disappointed with a very slow charge rate (battery too cold). How do I force the car to precondition the battery for charging before departing?

Fully paid FSD at purchase - feeling cheated, and left out

2016.5 Model S, paid for FSD at purchase, still can't get it. But, even though we went "bare bones" on wife's (second) Model Y a few months ago (no upgrades other than color), she has FSD in her car and it works great (although the free subscription ends soon). Tesla service is telling me that the pre-paid FSD "complete program" is "not available at this time" (no idea when it will be), and the "FSD Supervised" program is not yet available in MCU1 (will be in the future, no idea when). My only real option is to pay $2,458 for the MCU2 upgrade for the privilege of paying a monthly subscription for something I paid for at purchase. This is my second Tesla and my family's fourth, and we love them, but I sure am feeling left out and cheated for something that cost over $10,000 at time of purchase. Should have bought TSLA with the ten grand instead!!!

Update 2023.44.30.14 Issue

My 2018 M3 Mid Range keeps receiving the same software update. When I click on 'install', it gets stuck at 10% for hours. After resetting it using the wheel buttons, the update doesn't complete, and the system keeps prompting me to install the same version. I submitted a support ticket, and they removed the update more than once, but after 24 hours, the same version, 2023.44.30.14, reappeared without downloading. When I try to install it again, it starts at 10% and gets stuck. The car continues to display 'Software Update Required', and in service mode, I see two alerts for 'APS Mismatch Version'. is there any solutions

Very Unhappy - Battery Died P85

I knew this day was going to come one day and told myself, no big deal we will just deal with it and all will be well.....but one of the things Elon talked about when you purchased one of this vehicle was the long-range and owner could get of our this vehicle. My car currently has 155k miles on it and I just can't believe this battery has died on me! I am beyond disappointed and to be honest, a bit pissed off.

has anyone else found a better option than to replace this freaking battery? Not ready to spend 15k on a new battery?

I've heard of an option of fixing maybe a dead cell?

any input would be great.

Why the extremely large Supecharger sites?

Here's a thread for speculation with little or no evidence!

Why is Tesla putting in extremely large supercharger sites like Quartzite, Arizona? This is a very rural area with a major interstate freeway. There were 36 v2 & v3 SC's here already before Tesla put in a huge 84-stall SC site a few blocks away. I've been there twice and seen it in a lot of road trip videos. There are never more than 5-6 cars charging there.

Frankly, it would take a local total eclipse plus opening the SC's to all other brands to fill this SC site. So why? Why here, and why now?

Someone somewhere mentioned that it could be to per-emptively freeze out competitors. Basically the 'Walmart in small towns' theory. Put in something so big that it dominates and prevents other competition from coming in.

For example: Why would Electrify America come in and put in 4-8 stalls now? What's the chance for a competitor to put in 16-24 stalls and have anyone show up there?

Edinburgh service lead time

Hi
Does anyone know what's going with the service centre in Edinburgh?

I bought my 2022 M3LR on the 23rd of April.

Noticed a few issues so logged them in tbe app.

Mobile appointment comes back as the 2nd of April.

Pretty good I though! On the 1st they rescheduled to the 11th due to staff shortages.

On the 11th no one turns up and no one responds to my messages in the app. I call the national service number the following day. They look in to it and I get a message in the app late Friday apologising saying they will rebook ASAP.

A week later I'm still chasing to get rescheduled. Eventually I get a call saying the soonest they can do is the 10th of may.

I tell them I'm away at that time and back on the 14th. I'm told I will need to reschedule from the 10th in the app as they have already booked it in.

So now I've just tried to reschedule. I put my address in and select first date it gives me, except it keeps booking me in to Tesla Belfast and it's not possible to book a mobile service again. So, I called tesla again and now I'm told that the soonest date is the 23rd of May.

So that's 6 weeks from an appointment they missed.

Coming from a Kona EV I can't believe how poor the service is in comparison.

Is this considered 'normal'?

It's incredibly frustrating.

Thank

Huw

Car wrapped - Parking sensors not working

I recently had my model y vinyl wrapped and now the front parking sensors are no longer working. The back sensors still work.

From looking online, some people are saying to cut around the front sensors on the bumper. What exactly does that mean? Do I leave the vinyl on inside of the circle, and just trace around the outer edge of the circle?

It's strange how some people have their car wrapped and don't have any issues, and some do.

Salary sacrifice lease vs PCP

Sorry, question that looks like it’s probably been asked to death but hopefully not the usual question(s).

My M3LR goes back soon and I always planned on getting an MY after. Not bothered about waiting for the potential refresh, would rather have stalks, etc.
So quotes from salary sacrifice lease company are really high - significantly more than M3H even. A PCP (or even PCH & HP) through Tesla direct is significantly cheaper, assuming due to the low APR, so I’m tempted to go down this route.

However, is there anything else I need to consider when comparing the overall costs? I’m comparing net monthly payments on SS, I don’t have insurance through them as it’s cheaper to arrange it myself. The only other thing included is servicing/maintenance and tyres. Only needed 2 new tyres over 4 years on my M3LR and obviously minimal servicing so feels like they’re not a big deal. I am repaying a student loan so going private would increase those repayments, potentially to more than I’d save which is the only thing that’s got me thinking. Is there anything else?

TIA

long term parking

Just wanted to share my experience with a 2024 Model 3 SR that I left at a park and fly for about a week with sentry mode on.
I had about 220-230 miles of range when I parked it and I didn't check it until the day before we came back from vacation which is about 6 days.
To my surprise, I only had 80 miles of range left. I turned off sentry mode and checked it the next day and it was down to 78 miles.
I feel like sentry mode used up an excessive amount of range, more than what my Model Y drained while sitting parked for a week at a park and fly.
I don't know if it's the LFP battery or if it's something else but just wanted to share with everyone.

March of 9s: The Beginning of the End

I have had enough experience now with FSD 12 to say that in my opinion, I believe Ashok is correct:

I would also stress we are at the beginning of the end. That is, we will hopefully now start to see significant improvement with the "known FSD issues" and "corner case disengagements" with every major FSD release. "The end" (level 3 /4 autonomy within a wide Operational Design Domain (ODD)) is almost certainly year+ away. I'd like to document, just from one consistent anecdotal use case that can be repeated over time, where we are "starting from."

I will be driving a 90ish mile (2-3 hrs) "loop" under FSD to cover a range of driving scenarios. (Mileage is approximate):

For privacy reasons, there are about 15 miles in my loop that are not included in the link above that takes me to/from my actual home.

1713797820977.png

Here is a Link to inspect the route in detail

This route takes me from NJ Suburbs into and out of Manhattan (NYC) and includes approximately:
  • 10 Miles Suburban driving
  • 65 Miles "limited access highway" driving (This should be using the FSD 'highway stack' which is not the same as the FSD 12 stack)
    • includes interchanges
    • Includes Tolls
    • Includes Tunnel
  • 8 miles of other "highway type driving", (will probably fall under the FSD 12 stack)
  • 6 miles of dense city driving...including areas around Times Square, Rockefeller center, etc which will have dense vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
I will not be recording with a phone or anything like that. However I will try and save dashcam footage of anything notable.

I will report on:
  1. Interventions (Accelerator presses, particularly if safety related)
  2. Disengagements (comfort or safety related)
  3. Overall impressions
As we know Version 12.3.x does not support...(but will need to in the future):
  1. Smart Summon or "Banish"..so what I call the "first 100 yards and final 100 yards" is not available to test. (Drop offs / pick-ups).
  2. "Reversing" while on FSD is not yet supported
Finally, there are what I would say 2 well documented "comfort / safety" issues with FSD 12.3.x that I have also experienced regularly first hand:
  1. "Lane Selection Wobble"...for example, approaching an intersection where the single driving lane splits into multiple lanes (turning vs. straight)...FSD may act "indecisively"
  2. Unprotected turn (stop sign) behavior. Notably: stops early....then creeps. If no cars detected it may creeps into intersection instead of "just going". Further, if it has creeped into the intersection, THEN detects a car approaching, it may still hesitate and require intervention (accelerator press) to get it going.
In addition to those two consistent issues, I expect to encounter some issues related to routing, and any number of other 'corner case' issues. All things that will ultimately need to be handled, but we expect to see dealt with as we progress though the "March of 9s"...toward the "end of the end".

Although I have driven FSD regularly over the past 3 weeks...I have yet to take it into NYC.

Vehicle: Refresh Model S (2023), Vision Only, HW4. First test will be using:
Firmware version: 11.1 (2024.3.15)
FSD Version: 12.3.4

So...there's the set-up. I expect later today to drive the first loop.

Buying a used Tesla and I have concerns.

So I made an order for a Tesla model y long range 2021 seemed like a good deal with the price… but you know teslas horrible policy of not seeing the car until you get to delivery day. So I went yesterday and if they would have shown pictures I would have never reserved this car lol. I’m trying to figure out what I can and cannot fix on this car to see if I should take delivery of it. They let me walk away for a few days so they can reach out to used sales about a few of the concerns. First is the seat stains. There is a seat stain where a car seat was sitting. It’s like an orange ring all the way around the person I talked to said it’s likely in spec I just want to know if there’s a possible fix for this or not. Next the head liner in the back looks like their kids hit it with marker colored pencil or crayon. I don’t know if this can be cleaned or not if not what is the price of a new liner? Again was told likely in spec. Then there was a nasty smell that came from the air vents I’ve heard of this smell with Teslas before but I never imagined it would be this bad? Is there a remedy to this? The charging pad is caked in some nasty *sugar* I know I could just get a cover for it for a few bucks but looking to see if there’s a way to restore it or not. There’s lotion or something sprayed inside the center console I can live with I guess but if someone has an idea about how to get rid of that? The advisor tried telling me this is one of the best used teslas he has seen and I kind of told him he is full of *sugar* because the one I bought 8 months ago was worlds better than this. Are my expectations too high?
