Autopilot/cruise only works for a few seconds when car turns on?

Hello, my 2015 tesla 85D has had autopilot and cruise control issues ever since I got it, now it only turns on for a second when I start the car every now and then, otherwise it just doesn’t even show the possibility of it working. I do have a parking sensor error, as one of the sensors are out of place, but even when it was in place the issue with cc and autopilot would be present. Radar works when I first turn the car on as well as I can see the cars on the screen, then it immediately shuts off again. Lines show on the screen for staying in the lane like normal, but no assistance features at all. Any ideas?

Solid Black PBSB touch up substitute

I ordered a solid black PBSB touch up kit from Tesla and they have failed to ship in a timely manner. (Note: this is a consistent problem with orders I have placed previously from Tesla. They are typically late, lost or a partial fulfillment.) I need to fix a very minor paint chip (no dent) in my 2022 Model S long range before a 10 micron ceramic coating is to be applied and make the chip a permanent part of the car history. Can anyone recommend a comparable product to substitute available through a retail auto store (Advance, NAPA, O"Reilly)? Many thanks!

WIFI says unable to obtain IP address with Tesla Gen 3 wall connector

I continue to ty new ways to connect to wifi in my garage where I have the Tesla Wallconnector Gen 3. I get an error message that says, "unable to obtain IP address. Please check DHCP server settings. I have the TP-Link AXE300 router which is a tricky band and supposed to reach the entire house. I seen someone said to create a guest access for the car only... doesn't work. I want to be able to do any software updates and/or firmware updates but cannot until issue is fixed.

  • Question
New rear tires loud clunking on reverse?

Hello! I have a 2013 model s p85 with 141k miles. I just replaced my rear tires at discount tire yesterday due to wear. Within a few miles of driving I noticed a loud clunk when reversing (can feel it as well). It is sometimes noticeable when going from regen breaking to accelerating but it’s very pronounced while pressing the accelerator in reverse. Discount tire has been wholly unhelpful and I have an appointment at a service center on Monday (30miles away) but I’m honestly scared to drive it for work today and this weekend. My air suspension was also sitting unusually low this morning (standard ride height). Can anyone provide some insight on whether I can safely drive my tesla and what they’ll tell me at the service center?

  • Question
Tire Rotation - Tesla Dealership or Local Auto Service Place

I'm coming up on 6K miles on my 2023 MYLR. The Tesla dealership is 30 miles and takes about an hour each way with traffic. I was curious whether it's worth the trip or if the local tire and service shop can do an adequate job. My biggest concern is whether it will be obvious to the shop people where the lift points are and whether any special equipment is needed. Does a Tesla dealership provide any additional service when they rotate tires?

  • Question
First road trip in our MYLR

Using the Tesla app to map out the first day of an upcoming road trip, it calculates the first stop (Henrietta, TX) at 166 miles using 49% battery.

Does this seem high in terms of battery usage? Car is completely stock and we'll be running with the wheel covers in place.

Little elevation change between home and our first charging stop in Henrietta.

Cheers from the Lone Star state, where we are still struggling to get EV adoption up to 2% of car registrations in any region of the state (Austin leads at 1.97%).

I did my part :)

  • Question
MCU2 upgrade downsides?

Since the instrument panel screen on my 2014 S85 is bubbling, I’m planning to (finally!) go ahead with the MCU2 upgrade. I realize that I will lose FM radio but is there any other functionality that will be affected?
I seem to remember that, a few years ago, there was some issue with the backup camera (too dark in low light). Was that ever fixed?
Thanks for any insight.

  • Question
OEM Tire warranty

How does one make a Tire Warranty claim? My 2022 Model Y LR has just completed 10,000 miles (tire rotation and wheel balancing done ravers 5000 miles) and I drive on Chill mode and no racing.
The tire tread is showing 6/32 which is absolutely abnormal as that’s the tread depth most MY LR owners get at 20,000 miles.
I’ve opened a Service ticket with Tesla and they’re trying to sell me tires!!!
I asked for the OEM tire manufacturer warranty from them so I can file a claim directly with Continental Tires, and they are not providing me that.
Would appreciate guidance on how to handle this?

  • Question
Newly bought M3 got rear-ended [is this totaled?]

So my M3 2021 got rear ended. The car showed a bunch of warning alerts - Vehicle may not retstart, electrical components down etc. Based on reading other posts here its likely the pyro-fuse blowing up. There was also a slight burnt smell in the cabin during the incident. I wasnt able to drive the car after the incident.
On the outside the damage doesnt look that terrible (see pics) but based on reading some posts there might be more internal damage inside. I guess my question is what is the estimate to have this fixed? How long do parts usually take and will the car be totaled?

How do I file for diminished value? I live in Fremont, Bay Area, California

NB airbags did not deploy.

Card Key names question.

My wife and each have a card key. Mine is named Dave, and under that name it says 9:32 PM | Key card | Sally Smith. My wife's card card is named Sally and under that name it says 9:32 PM | Key card | Sally Smith. My question is why do both cards have my wife's name and how to I change my card to say Dave Smith instead of Sally Smith. Please, no jokes about the wife rules, that goes without saying LOL! Thanks!

To DIY or not to DIY? Front Camera Replacement: Fisheye and Narrow Cam Dropped Frames

I have a 2018 Model 3 Long Range RWD with Enhanced Autopilot, and I often get the UI_a114 "Driving Visualization Temporarily Degraded" error whenever I leave my car out in the sun for longer than 20 minutes and ambient temperatures exceed 75 degrees F. This error disables the ENTIRE DAS (Driver Assistance System), which means no Autopilot, no emergency braking, no blind spot detection, no visualization on screen, not even cruise control is available.

THE PROBLEM: UI_a114 "Driving Visualization Temporarily Degraded"

In service mode, in the DAS menu, it shows this:
IMG_1620.jpg

THE CULPRIT: 2 cameras (Narrow and Fisheye) that overheat from direct sunlight. :/

I've been examining this problem for a while now and determined that it's excess heat caused by direct sunlight that causes the two cameras to fail. I conducted an experiment: I made a small sun shield with a suction cup to cover the triple camera and left in the sun for a few hours and sure enough, it worked! Obviously I shouldn't have to do that every time I leave it in the sun. Everything works fine in the morning and in the evening when sun exposure is low. I live in SoCal, so it gets sunny and hot often. Setting cabin overheat protection even at its lowest temperature setting doesn't help.

SOLUTION: Camera Replacement?
Tesla quoted me $200-$600, depending on what needs to be replaced plus $245/hr for labor.
I found some used triple cameras on eBay ranging from $65-$175. I took apart the camera section and I am confident I can change the part in about 30 minutes or less. :) Part number I found on the camera was (P)1132925-00-A. Do any of you kind folks know if any triple camera from 2017-2020 will work?

OR always park in the shade lol

THE QUESTION: Should I try replacing the camera myself and potentially save hundreds of dollars? OR should I pay Tesla Service $400-$800 for this reasonably simple repair? I can always return the used camera and take it in to service if it doesn't work.

Unable to connect for last 2 hours [posted 05.17.2023]

I haven't been able to connect to the car from app since last 2 hours. I went to the car and made sure I could start it up. Still app only shows "Last seen 2 hours ago" and spinning circle.
I also have TeslaFi subscription and the raw data won't update. It just shows "Getting live data"
Have rebooted phone and verified I have internet service.
Any one else having issues today? This is the first time I encounter this.

  • Question
Larger tires to fill gap without lowering the car? 2022 M3P - Vossens HF-2

As the title says, I want to reuse my Vossen wheels without lowering the car but want larger ties to fill the gap... I'm TERRIBLE with tire size calculations. I had the below setup on my 2020 stealth and had all KINDS of suspension issues when I lowered the car.

Now, I have a 2022 MP3 and I want to put the wheels back on the car without lowering it, but I want to swap out the tires for a little "beefier" tires to fill the gap and without rubbing the front control arms. I did read somewhere on here the largest circumference on a non-lowered MP3 is 27.5. I don't know how accurate that is.

What I have:
Vossen HF-2
20x9 +33
20x10.5 +43

Tires
245-35-20
285-30-20

Can anyone help? I don't want to spend a fortune on new tires, mount the, only to find out they're too large and rub.

Cruise Control on new Teslas

I did a demo drives of non-plaid Model S and X yesterday. One thing that kinda shocked me was that cruise control can't be used without autopilot. Is this true?

On my 2016 S I can flip the stalk once to active cruise control (which I use all the time), and twice to activate autopilot (AP1). There are many occasions where AP1 isn't usable because lines on the road are faded / absent, but I still have cruise control. I asked the sales manager about using cruise control without auto steering, and his response was "It's all based on vision now." HUH? I know, but...that's not what I asked. After several tries he seemed to comprehend what I was asking and said you can't activate cruise control without the auto steering. Again, is that really true?
If so, then by extension, if one purchases a basic S or X without autopilot, does it not have any cruise control at all?

Need some serious help with my charging issue

I am in NJ, I purchased my Model 3 RWD 2023 around Feb of this year. I bought a Juicebox 40 amp plugin charger and had an electrician installed it for me. I am starting to having some issues with it. So at times it will intermittently stop charging, I had to manually going into the Tesla App to start charging again. There's no pattern, sometimes it would charge for 20 mins, other times, it would charge for 5 mins. Very annoying.

First thing I did was to contact JuiceBox support, and their support are amatures, they sent me a replacement, 3 times, first two times, it was a short cable model, I wanted to a 25 ft cable. Finally the 3rd time, I received the right model, plug it in, same issue.... ahh... now was told I can't return it because it's over 30 days, amazon was really good and could refund me but i had to pay 20% restocking fee.

I scheduled a service with Tesla, brought the car in, and was told, everything works fine.. I told them about the intermittent disconnect issue and was told to buy a tesla charger... very arrogant customer service manager.

Now brought the car back home.. dealt with charging issues for couple of weeks, finally bought another model from Amazon. Autel Charger... got it installed yesterday, same issue.. OMG

Does anyone else having this issue? I can't be the only one... do I go get a tesla charger? because they don't have a 25 ft cable model which's needed, because i hate to back in my drivieway to charge.

Also NJ provide some type of Rebate for approved EV Chargers and tesla charger isn't one of them.

Thanks for any help on this.

3 months & tires are damaged from curbing them

Tires are 3 months old. Three out of the four tires have peeling off where the tires meet the curb while parking. I have never seen anything like it on tires before. The inner rim of the tires is shredding and I have concerns about the tires blowing while driving. Should I be concerned about my safety plus any passengers? What should I do?
IMG_20230517_080658.jpg
and the vehicle is only three months old. Is this a safety issue?

Charging stops due to jump from 30A to 72A

WHAT CAUSES MY APP TO SHOW 31A WHEN I PLUG IT IN AND THEN IT JUMPS TO 72A STOPPING THE CAR FROM CHARGING AND FRYING OUT MY OUTLET?
I REPLACED THE OUTLET DUE TO FRIED WIRING, TESTED IT AND ITS PERFECT ($478.00)
THEN I WENT TO TESLA IN WESTMONT ILLINOIS TO BUY A NEW ADAPTER THAT HAD BEEN CHARD IN THE INCIDENT
THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE SO I BOUGHT A WHOLE NEW CHARGING DEVICE - THE NEW DESIGN- AND WHOLE NEW CORD ($330.00)
I CAME HOME AND PLUGGED IT IN TO CHARGE - SAME THING HAPPENED - CHARGING STOPPED AND I NOTICE ON MY APP THAT IT JUMPED TO 72A
I IMMEDIATELY UNPUGGED EVEYTHING
I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR A TECH TO COME OUT
I RESPONDED TO SEVERAL MESSAGES AND SUPPLIED PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING
I GET A CALL TODAY THAT THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO PROBLEM SO NO TECH COMING OUT TOMORROW
I AM REALLY WONDERING IF THEY KNOW

ANYONE ENCOUNTER THIS??

I HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS!!!

THANK YOU

  • Question
Individual songs warped playback speed?

Hi everyone, my M3 recently started playing certain songs ‘weirdly’ - as if they’re sped up a bit and the bass levels have been turned down. Two examples I can think of are “Sweater Weather” and “Afraid” by The Neighborhood. The beat is a bit too fast, and the vocals are too high-pitched. I’ve played these songs in the car for years, and just last Friday the sounds changed. I took the car in for a separate issue (decreased power/speed limited) today and the technician said the song issue isn’t a car thing; it must be the app.
I tried playing those songs in the loaner car and have the same issue. Other songs sound perfectly fine in both cars. When I play the songs on my phone to confirm I’m not losing my mind, they’re fine. Any ideas? TIA

  • Question
What are the original tires of the 2018 Model S?

I have a 2018 Model S, 75D, and it has been driven for almost 5,000 miles. As it's time to replace the tires, I want to stick with the same brand and model since I'm content with their performance. The original tires are labeled as Goodyear Eagle Touring, but I recently discovered that there are two variations - the regular Eagle Touring and the Eagle Touring SCT (Sound Comfortable Technology). The latter is twice as expensive as the former, but I'm unsure which of the two types my car currently has. Does anyone happen to know if the 2018 Model S comes with SCT on its original tires?
