Hello all -

sorry to admit, but first time I am posting sth here is actually a request for help / hints re. a problem I am facing.

My roadster wont' charge.

I parked the car with very little mileage left (approx. 20 mi). Tried to charge it last night, but it simply wouldn't. When I open the charge port door, it is solid white, I plug in the connector to the wall outlet (230V, 13A) in my garage. The screen says "preparing to charge", but nothing further happens. The screen properly reads...

In every Tesla Roadster PEM we have serviced to date there is evidence of failing thermal insulating material between the IGBT Inverter Transistors and Aluminum Heat Sink. Corrective action is PEM removal and disassembly, and replacement of the thermal insulating material with an upgrade, higher quality material more suitable for automotive wide temperature application.

Also have read varying suggestions on how to maintain battery life. I only drive in about 25 a week. So should I leave it plugged in? I have a 110 charger And currently gets about 173 miles predicted to charge. Thanks in advance

It happens when trying to charge and when trying to drive. The battery is good, lowest brick is 3.97V highest is 4.00V. Pack voltage is 395V. But in the service screen the PEM has only 254V. That sounds like a problem! I'm thinking a resistance between the ESS and PEM?

I checked the WiKi and could not find any details. Occasionally when very wet and humid I would get the BSM: Isolation fault with the contactors closed (#286) and a short drive always cleared the error and allowed me to charge.
