Yeah, a new dash was mentioned at the British Motor Show so I was on the lookout for this. I wonder if it will be the OLED display (also mentioned) or just conventional dials.

I wonder if that picture is an actual photo or a rendering.
It's clearly a rendering.
Considering the short amount of time to prepare for the event, the design and marketing team at Tesla Motors was looking for a quick and efficient way to create photographic images of the highest quality from their 3D digital data. Bunkspeed's HyperDrive and HyperShot were the obvious choice.
"The Bunkspeed tools integrate seamlessly within Tesla's workflow. We make quick decisions on digital models and want to carry the use and interaction with digital models for interior and exterior work through the entire design process," says Franz von Holzhausen, Chief Designer of Tesla Motors. "I personally use HyperShot on my MacBook Pro. I love how quickly and easily I can evaluate the design in real-time with photographic quality."
If anyone at the 98k price point selects the Sport option, I am almost positive that their price is $98,000 + $19,500 = $117,500. I cannot be positive, but it sort of makes sense. Otherwise those people, who have been waiting two years, would have to pay $29,500 for the upgrade. I doubt any of them would upgrade AND take another delay.
I asked if the new interior would be available as an upgrade without the Sports package, and that is something for which they do not yet have an answer.
If that's the case, it doesn't really make financial sense. Regardless of when you made or how much you paid for your 2008 reservation, that 2008MY Roadster has a value of at least $125K. That value has been set by Tesla since they are charging $125K for the remaining 2008MY VINs that are later cars than the VIN you already have reserved. However, as of this moment: If you are a 2008 buyer and you want to upgrade to a Sport model, you are required to upgrade to a 2009 model at the 2009 $109,000 price point and then pay the additional $19,500 upgrade to the Sport from there.
TEG, thanks for the pics! This dash finally makes sense. Somebody at Tesla is surely reading this forum
I'd hope all new models would get it and not only Sport.
No problem about the images, I thought the gauge details would be interesting. :smile:Thanks for the higher res images, doug.
Like the number sequence on the power meter. Doubles at each value.
Though I always felt this idea was common sense (and should have been done with the tranny change), it certainly looks like it. :smile:This dash finally makes sense. Somebody at Tesla is surely reading this forum
Tachometer should be joined with speedometer with a single needle. Instead of existing tachometer there should be "powermeter", showing current engine power usage.
>> I feel that the change to the single speed trany has made the tach useless.
I'm still rooting for it to be replaced by a powergauge with some negative field for regen. Maybe an aftermarket mod?
Something like this:
I might try the KW gauge with the TDC as the zero point.
Can you put the negative numbers into green? Or maybe it should just be the curved scale markings - like the red section for 180 and 220?
I spoke with Tesla yesterday and the new dash will be on all 2009s, not just the Sport.

And what about the new seats - standard for 2009 or sport model only?
In case anyone missed it from the other thread, the "Forged Alloy Tesla Wheels" are the normal iconic Tesla wheels that were, until recently, standard. Except now you can also get them in black. Here is what I think the Sport model actually includes from the option list.
Forged Alloy Tesla Wheels (silver or black finish) $2,300
Performance Tires NEW $850
Custom Tuned Adjustable Suspension NEW $4,000
Total: $7,150
In addition to that the Sport model includes the higher performing engine with the stator improvements.
Does anyone have a different understand of the Sport package?
. Would be nice to also know the "price as shown" for the renderings Tesla released to represent the Roadster Sport.
