New Tesla Solar install .. some questions

Data goes from SolarEdge inverter -> black box -> Tesla -> SolarEdge.com. So without hooking up ethernet Tesla and SolarEdge work, at least for now. It works for me. I've seen sources claiming that if you plug in the ethernet, the zigbee is disabled and Tesla doesn't get data, but some sources...

New Tesla Solar install .. some questions

The ethernet connection is behind the front panel on the top piece of the SolarEdge inverter. I had the installers connect to this when they did the install with a cable I provided, they routed it to a nearby patch panel. If you have the small black Tesla gateway device, it will talk to the...

    Powerwall discharging to grid

Another difference is that I keep my system in backup only which leaves my batteries full most of the time. I do this because here we have 100% net metering so I get full credit for what I push to the grid from solar. So the system doesn’t need to manage charging the powerwalls before the event.

    Powerwall discharging to grid

Tesla manages mine too. I wonder if they have something not set up right in my account. Wouldn’t surprise me. Could be that I’m on Eversource and you’re on national grid. Looks like the OP, also on Eversource, had similar looking charts to me and no grid services.

    Powerwall discharging to grid

Hmmm. Is that an android or iOS device? Maybe the iOS device I have doesn’t show grid services yet.

    Powerwall discharging to grid

I would prefer that as well. The ChargePoint EVSE email does allow opt out. Today was indeed a discharge event for Eversource. The Tesla app didn’t have a grid services button, just shows the discharge to the grid in the graph. It didn’t show an arrow to the grid on the animation either. Does...

    Eversource approval for solar?

The meter that was bridged is the new solar production meter, not the consumption meter. The original consumption meter stayed in place until they replaced it with the net metering meter.

    Powerwall discharging to grid

Do you get some sort of notification that an event will occur? I get an alert from Chargepoint when an EVSE limiting event is going to occur, and received one of those today for 5-7pm. But I haven't gotten anything from Eversource when there is going to be a powerwall discharge event. Or at...

Massachusetts Install - What Is Required to Be Mounted Outdoors?

My install was done by tesla. The additional three exterior added items (tesla gateway, disconnect, and smart meter) are on the side of my house. In my case, putting the gateway inside would have made things more complicated due to where the power entry to the basement is located. My main panel...

Massachusetts Install - What Is Required to Be Mounted Outdoors?

In this thread Eversource approval for solar? I show pictures of my eversource approved MA install including what is outside. Eversource requires an external big switch (in my case 150A) to disconnect solar and powerwall from the grid. Outside is my net-meter feed meter, tesla gateway...

    Auto Inspection - Massachusetts

They also read the odometer, so if taxachussetts starts charging at least it will be based on miles and not some "average". For what it's worth, they lift the car front end to check if there is excessive play in the steering or suspension. Seems a bit silly to me, not really much of a safety...
