Best Journalists Writing about Tesla Autopilot

For 3+ years, I've been leading a large-scale study at MIT on human interaction w/ Tesla Autopilot. First paper & video with novel, surprising results will be out next week. Can you recommend good objective journalist who are knowledgeable about Autopilot?

Arguing Machines: Tesla Autopilot vs Neural Network

Here's our video of the arguing machines concept applied to Tesla Autopilot "arguing" with an end-to-end neural network. Disagreement is used to predict challenging situations. It's a simple but powerful method for human supervision of black box AI systems: Paper is available here...

New podcast on Artificial Intelligence from MIT

I'm starting a new podcast on AI simply called "Artificial Intelligence". It'll include accessible, big-picture conversations (at MIT and beyond) on the nature of intelligence. Some big names and brilliant minds coming up in the fall. I'm posting it on TMC because there will be some people from...

Anyone driving cross country from Boston to California?

Thanks for the offers. I'm mostly looking for September trips from Boston to Fremont. It's the route that we have another vehicle ready to travel, and so validation data along that route is what's needed.

Anyone driving cross country from Boston to California?

We're a group of MIT researchers looking for a person who is driving their car (preferably Tesla) from Boston to California (preferably Fremont, CA). We would like to add a dashcam to your car to record the forward roadway and will pay for it. Payment amount is negotiable. This will help our...

Updated Tesla vehicle deliveries visualization (based on 2018-Q2 report)

Here's the updated visualization of Tesla vehicle deliveries based on Tesla's Q2 delivery report. For details, see blog post: Tesla Vehicle Deliveries and Projections | MIT Human-Centered AI

Tesla Autopilot miles estimated at over 1.2 billion

I assumed that the ration of AP2 cars with EAP is the same as AP1 cars with AP. It's the most reasonable assumption given the lack of data on this point.

Tesla Autopilot miles estimated at over 1.2 billion

Tesla Autopilot has driven over 1.2 billion miles (estimated). See visualization sand details in blog post: Tesla Autopilot Miles | MIT Human-Centered AI This is a remarkable accomplishment in the history of applied AI research, development, and deployment.

    Tesla Autopilot Survey (from MIT)

Great questions! I especially like the last one. If not in this survey, I'll add in future versions.

Visualization of Tesla Vehicle Deliveries: Past, Present, and Future

I was looking to establish a strong lowerbound that while not guaranteed is very likely achievable. Everything else is speculation I like to stay out of for the purpose of the research I'm doing.

Visualization of Tesla Vehicle Deliveries: Past, Present, and Future

I updated the visualization of Tesla deliveries (past and future) to include projections based on production levels of 3,500 vehicles a week and 5,000 vehicles a week. Latter will lead to 1 million total by November 8, 2020.

Visualization of Tesla Vehicle Deliveries: Past, Present, and Future

I made a visualization of Tesla vehicle deliveries from 2008 to today, and projecting out to 2020. If ramp up continues, total should hit 1 million vehicles by Nov 20, 2019. Plus, the following is a plot showing the total number of delivered vehicles, segmented by Autopilot hardware...

    Tesla Autopilot Survey (from MIT)

I've added two new questions on the topic of HCI: How useful do you find the visual display of what Autopilot sees (lane markings, other cars) on the instrument cluster (Model S/X) or center display (Model 3)? How useful do you find the sound (audio signal) you hear when Autopilot is turned on...

    Tesla Autopilot Survey (from MIT)

What do you think would be a good question to ask about the instrument cluster?
