Had this same problem with my model S and it turned out to be that the tow in was off. It caused me to go thru a set of rear tires at about 5800 miles. Had it realigned and the problem went away.

$30 and it was all worth it! Although I did notice a 220/30 amp socket by the exit door of the Motel. Will have to ask them about it next year. I'm becoming an Amp Vamp.
