Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

I’m so glad I pushed delivery until it’s all but confirmed no immediate changes. I lost out on 2 weeks of driving the Y - but I gained so much in peace of mind over those past two weeks, not obsessing over if I made a mistake. Delivery appt this weekend - we’re getting our MY!

No - it wasn't there yesterday but then this morning when I logged in, the new MVPA was up

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

Got a text yesterday with a new delivery date of a new car, scheduled 2-3 weeks from yesterday which puts us right at the day after battery day, VIN 488xx. So now I'm in a spot where, if nothing is announced as being changed on the MY on 9/22 - I can go pick it up right after - but if something...

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

Perfect, this aligns with what my service advisor said about Tesla stopping production on October 1 for all of North America - maybe it's nothing and they're really just changing the production line for production for a different market on that day - but there's a chance it's to start to...

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

Despite letting Tesla chat know I wanted to delay delivery, looks like the message wasn't received at our local SC and I got a text/call that the car was at the lot early and could be picked up on Sep 8th - one week early. Talked to the local advisor and was up front about wanting to wait until...

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

Well it's official - I just pulled the trigger and let Tesla know via chat that I'm not yet ready for a Sep 15th delivery date - they asked if there's any other notes I'd want to add to the account and I said that I'd likely be ready by Sep 23/24th but understand that there may not be a car to...

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

Yeah - I think based on my current VIN and manufacture date of Aug 2020, likely the items listed above are all going to be on the car assigned to me - but if waiting a few more months adds incrementally more density/range - that's worth waiting to find out if that'll be a reality soon vs. years...

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

Yep - totally agreed - unlikely any significant changes made into production of 3/Y - but MAN is FOMO a thing - and i'd be kicking myself so hard if I took delivery only to find out that had I waited 7 days to learn there are changes worth waiting another few months for making their way to the...

Deciding to Delay Delivery until Battery Day

I placed an order for our LR AWD MY back on August 4th and have been patiently awaiting delivery - and was so excited to finally get a VIN 2 weeks ago and was provided with delivery date options of Sep 15-17... While I'm scheduled for delivery on Sep 15th, my SA has let me know its very likely...

No off-street parking - is my home-charging solution a bad idea?

Yes! that's a neat looking elegant solution that could be implemented if we get the right of way to run power to our sidewalk underground - this is great, thanks for the link!

No off-street parking - is my home-charging solution a bad idea?

Thanks for the concern - Understood about your points. All of this has been run by various licensed electricians and I’ve gotten 4 different responses on what is/isn’t allowed so far. 1 suggested the 120v overheard cord solution (not much different than the lights), another suggested a...

No off-street parking - is my home-charging solution a bad idea?

Thanks for the tip! I'd seen documentation somewhere that you could use up to a 60amp circuit so my reasoning was that, if we're running it anyways and we have plenty of capacity in our panel (400amp service to the house), then why not run the full 60amp... but yes, didn't realize there may not...

No off-street parking - is my home-charging solution a bad idea?

It looks like we may be able to run power under the concrete sidewalk after all! Though the electricians I've also raised this quandary with, just as the people in this thread, seem to be mixed on code and allowances. We have minor use permits in our city that allow one to encroach on public...

No off-street parking - is my home-charging solution a bad idea?

Yeah I looked into the cable protector route but that's a definite no go. It doesn't matter if it's cable or a ramp, I can't have anything sitting on the sidewalk to the street, which is why I’m even considering ‘above’ the sidewalk.

No off-street parking - is my home-charging solution a bad idea?

I was planning on also keeping the mobile connector with the car at all times, so would attach to the female part of the cord only at time of charge and keep the whole unit in car all other times. I'm afraid if I left that dangling, that it'd walk away when not in use. Noted about SC - thanks...
