Have your service center check large rear drive unit for coolant leakage before warranty expires

I asked ‘please check the rear drive unit speed sensor for any signs of leakage’. I asked if the front drive unit should be checked and the service guy said that only the rears were problematic. He asked if I had noticed any fluid on the floor or anything, to which I said ‘nope, just want to...

Clunk in your front end over bumps? Check brake caliper spring clips

I haven't seen this elsewhere, so i wanted to post it as a tip. My P85D was making a loud front end clunk when going over the smallest of bumps. SC diagnosed it as the front air shocks needing replacement, which I though would be rather expensive for a noise I was able to live with. When...

Have your service center check large rear drive unit for coolant leakage before warranty expires

Yes this is exactly what they did for me. I had no signs of a problem. I was just running out of time. My SC was very cooperative. Did not charge me a diagnostic fee. Maybe they would have if it had not been leaking.

Have your service center check large rear drive unit for coolant leakage before warranty expires

I want to thank ajbessinger for his information on rear drive unit failure (sorry can't find the thread) and how to check the speed sensor for coolant leakage. My 2/15 p85D with original drive unit was showing no failure symptoms, but I asked the service center to check the speed sensor for...

Out of Warranty Drive Unit Replacement and Cost

As far as I know my DU is doing fine. But if I did the sensor check for coolant, and found contaminants, would this be evidence enough to get Tesla to replace the DU under warranty? I still have 19 months of warranty remaining. 60K miles on original DU. Thanks

Vendor X-Care EV Extended Warranty - The "Why" to our "What".

I'm personally waiting to read about people's experiences with your product. I can't find any experiences posted anywhere, good or bad. I am nervous to become the first person on the internet to spend $5000 on your product. Maybe you could allow customers to leave feedback on your website?

New P85D owner has questions of other P85D owners

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies and time spent writing them. You have really put my mind at ease. Now that I’ve had the car a few more days, I have experimented with it at a higher state of charge and under warmer conditions. The car is multitudes faster when warm, and power...

New P85D owner has questions of other P85D owners

Interesting, so if I plug it in every night, the battery will not be warm in the morning? You’d think if it was plugged in they would keep it warm for max efficiency, or have an option to warm it up using wall power at a certain time every morning.

New P85D owner has questions of other P85D owners

This is all great information! I can’t wait for summer so I can see what this car can really do, it sounds like most of my issues are cold related. I’m running snow tires too, I don’t know if they lose more energy to friction than the pilots. I would think the 21” wheels would save energy over...

New P85D owner has questions of other P85D owners

Thanks for your help. I have 21” wheels. Good to know that regen requires the car to warm up, I only took short trips today and at 29 it’s the coldest day since I’ve had it. Good to know that it does worse in town than on the highway. Maybe I’m ok. I see so many reports of people’s lifetime...

New P85D owner has questions of other P85D owners

Hello! I just purchased a Feb 2015 P85D 30k miles, last Saturday and I have some questions about its performance that I think might be abnormal. Since This is my first Tesla I don’t have any prior experience to compare it to. The 240 mile drive home on the highway averaged 350 watt/hour per...
