What things to check when buying a used Tesla?

I’ve been buying used ICE cars for nearly 30 years and never been stuck with a lemon. I’m pretty good at diagnosing ICE problems by feel and by ear and I usually notice problems several months before a mechanic is able to fully diagnose it. Now I’m thinking of starting a search for a 2015...

WTB: MS w/ Autopilot in Southern California

A brand-new S60 with AP is $61,200 after referral and fed tax incentives. So this 2014 with 12K miles is hardly a good deal for me (not interested in the extra options) at $56,500.

WTB: MS w/ Autopilot in Southern California

The CPOs I've seen are loaded with options. I'm looking for a base model. Not trying to find a desperate seller, but I do hope to cash in on the famously steep depreciation curve of Tesla cars.

WTB: MS w/ Autopilot in Southern California

Hoping to find a late '14 or early '15, high mileage, low option (CHEAP) Model S. Must have Autopilot hardware.

Why is the 90D range not 50% larger than the 60D?

    It's only 257 vs 200 miles.

Finding AP Hardware - what Model Year are the cars built in October-December 2014?

It is often said that Tesla cars don't have "model years". But Tesla CPO and any used car site think otherwise. So, when searching for a used Tesla with AP Hardware, should I be looking for cars advertised as "2014", since the AP Hardware started being delivered around October of that year? Or...

What's the maximum passenger height for the MS jump seats?

Yes, nice catch. I guess that was one side of my brain's way to tell the other side I want a Model X. I did find the answer on some random forum, it's around 60 inches.

What's the maximum passenger height for the MS jump seats?

Tesla site talks about a maximum weight of ~70 lbs. My kids are skinny so I'm more concerned about useful life of the seats (when will they outgrow it?) based on maximum height. Any info available? Any first-hand experiences?

Critique My Strategy: Blindly Buying the Base Model

I know OP is talking about Model S, but as an aside, this strategy would backfire on the Model X, if you buy it expecting a basic SUV, because the base model comes configured as a Sedan (5 seats).

Happy with base Model S 60 with no upgrades?

I'm thinking of getting the Model S 60 with Autopilot and nothing else -- not even the nicer seats or sunroof. The only reason I'm considering buying this car, is to ease the burden of a 130-mile commute (north San Diego County to Orange County) plus occasional road-trips up to 1,000 miles...

Tesla+Solar and the end of Net Metering in San Diego

As of late June, 2016, a triggering event has been reached which ends pure Net Metering and starts lots of additional fees for new solar energy users. (existing users are grandfathered for up to 20 years) When selling excess solar electricity to the grid during the day and buying it back from...

    California $2,500 tax rebate details

I understand CA has a rebate of $2,500 that can be used towards purchase of any new Tesla. Does anybody know the following details: - Do the capital gains from the sale of someone's home in another state count towards the $500K (joint) income limit? - Do you still get the full rebate even if...

Reaction time required to avoid Florida crash?

What evidence is there that the driver was not paying attention? IF half of what @stopcrazypp described is true, that would seem to disprove such a presumption. That was precisely what I was trying to uncover with this discussion, so thank you all for chiming in.
