Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

Had the exact same issue on my 2013 P85. Replaced the MCU (both screens plus new computer) and all is well. If you plan on keeping the car it’s probably time to get that done. Cost was $1700.00 (I opted not to have Radio tuner). Good news is it works better than it ever has. For the first time I...

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

For what it’s worth I have a Chamberlain opener and Homelink works with it. Had to reprogram it after the memory card upgrade but it worked fine after the MCU2 upgrade. * The 1st time I tried to do I recall there was a couple of different ways to program it and the first one didn’t work. Ended...

Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

I recently got the MCU2 upgrade. I wish I had done it sooner. I had already paid $200.00 for the LTE upgrade previously so wondering if I would’ve gotten that with the MCU2 upgrade for free. Anyone know if that was included? Beyond that, I really like the responsiveness of the screen now. First...

    Apple car

I wish they would, but I don't see it. I don't think Steve Jobs would have touched that market. I don't see Tim Cook doing it either. I think they'll stick with trying to get the manufacturers to use their UI's.

Mach-E beats Tesla Model 3 as Consumer Reports top electric vehicle for 2022

It's a business. They picked Mustang because it's Ford and only then because they can't give it to Tesla again. They need to give "best of the year" to different brands or they won't make any money.

Pros and Cons of MCU 2 Upgrade?

Mine just got delayed for the 3rd time. They’re having trouble getting the parts.

    TESLAX License Plate

I always felt like personalized plates were a waste of money. Having said that, some of them are really clever. Yours? Not so much tbh. Sorry... but Teslax Kind of reads like Exlax. 😕

    MAIN BATTERY FAILURE

Thanks. I've seen $20k floated around as the price a "new" battery pack but they are using the term colloquially apparently. Thanks for the clarification.

    MAIN BATTERY FAILURE

Ohhh... that explains the low price. My 2013 battery pack is still functioning fine, but I know one day it's going to need to be replaced. Just wondering how much the refurbs cost and if Tesla service will install a refurb bought aftermarket from someone like 057.

    MAIN BATTERY FAILURE

I'm in the same boat op. I have a 2013. A new Model S would cost me $90k. A new Battery will some day cost me $20k. Seems like if you love your car and it still runs well, it's cheaper to just get a new battery. How much are aftermarket batteries? Was just on your website. It looks like you...

Is leaving Tesla plugged in while not charging really beneficial?

Wow. Settle down Bro. Lol. It is widely known that these type of batteries like to be at about 50% charge level and it's better to charge them at a lower voltage vs. a higher one, not to mention easier on your home's electrical panel and the charging unit itself (you may recall some of the...

    Smart paint repair

I wish they had it here. I needed to have a small 1" scratch removed from my front passenger door recently and after the touch up and the "blending" with the paint on the back door, they had to re-clear not only the front door but the back door too. Cost me $1700.00 for a 1" scratch and I had to...

    Smart paint repair

Looks great. What do they mean by “smart repair ?” How is it different from a normal repair?

Is leaving Tesla plugged in while not charging really beneficial?

It's a nice safety feature for the battery that wouldn't happen if it wasn't plugged in. Not even sure why this is a debate. Tesla has said many times that the best way to take care of the battery is to leave it plugged when not in use. It is also recommend to keep the battery charged to the...
