Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

Can you elaborate? The projected path was straight ahead the entire time. Stepping frame-by-frame, the car slowed from 40mph to 25mph by the time it entered the intersection (while the light was still yellow, barely), then braked further to 15mph within the intersection before I overrode it. On...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Definitely worth a rewatch, now that I've had firsthand experience with the beta! Is it your understanding that the NN is completely in charge of the red light (mis)behavior seen in the video? Also wondering if perhaps the lane guides within the intersection confused the network and made it...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Here's a short clip of FSD Beta 10.5 in my Model 3 from this evening. This is fairly typical of my experience with both 10.4 and 10.5. High level of alertness required! Particularly concerning is the bike lane incursion at 0:42 and red-light braking at 1:05, but the car makes several mistakes...

    Tesla FSD Beta Release 10.5 2021.36.8.8 - 10.5.1?

Trying out 10.5 on some of my usual routes. There's a spot where it has to make a left turn (two left-turn lanes) followed by an immediate right (200 feet later); the car still always incorrectly chooses the leftmost of the two left-turn lanes, and is unable to merge over to the right lane for...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

First drive impressions today with 10.5. Overall not substantially different from 10.4, although I was using it on mostly different streets. Some highlights: - Got completely lost trying to get out of an easy parking lot; started driving across marked lines and around in circles. Finally gave...

Wiki MASTER THREAD: Actual FSD Beta downloads and experiences

I've heard comparisons between horses and autonomous vehicles before, but this takes the cak.

    Just installed 10.4 (2021.36.8.5). Any tips/tricks/advice?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they're not. 😜 Just stay alert and you'll be fine. There's no substitute for simply using it for a few days to get used to its "personality". Lots of phantom braking, lots of basic mistakes (choosing the wrong lane, stopping in the...

    Wiki FSD Beta 10.4

I'll try to get used to this. The throttle doesn't disable FSD though; I think that was my instinctive hesitation, that I'd rather disable FSD than fight with it. But I'll try the throttle the next time it happens. Right, but my thought was less about stop signs (or any situation where the car...

    Wiki FSD Beta 10.4

My Model 3 very nearly caused an accident on FSD Beta 10.4 today. Driving on a 35mph street with moderate traffic, it spontaneously phantom-braked HARD (like ABS-hard), and the car behind me had to swerve out of the way, very nearly colliding with me. This is a particular problem because phantom...

    FSD Edge cases

Not to put too fine a point on it, but recent shortages of veterinary ivermectin would seem to refute this. Regarding L4: I've driven (or been driven) many thousands of miles on highway NOA, and it is nowhere close to L4. I'd guess that it currently requires an elective disengagement about...

    Wiki FSD Beta 10.4

Same. A big part of the problem is the halting and jerkiness; it makes it much less obvious (to me, in the moment) what FSD's intentions are, so I'm more likely to disengage. I've had it stop completely in the middle of an intersection several times, even with a green arrow and no cars ahead of...

    Wiki FSD Beta 10.4

The other thing Autopilot has never figured out is how to handle a single lane splitting and becoming two. It always sees the lane widening and goes straight down the middle, then panics and swerves when it sees the "gore point" approaching. A much more reasonable approach would be to hug the...

    Wiki FSD Beta 10.4

First #FSDBeta impressions (10.4): I was thrilled to get to finally try it out!! Impressive in some ways, but very far from prime-time. 15-mile drive through Pacific Palisades, ten necessary interventions/disengagements. I’ll list what I can remember: 1) Phantom forward collision warning on San...

    OFFICIAL BUTTON WATCH

I wonder if at some point the safety score can be separately calculated and shown per driver profile, even if the combined score is still what counts for FSD eligibility. It would also be nice if they excluded Track Mode (geofenced to tracks). And I would hope that the AI would eventually be...

    OFFICIAL BUTTON WATCH

The score is calculated based on the "moderate" setting, regardless of how you have the car preference set. So it may even be better to set the preference to "Early", to give yourself a chance of reacting to the early audible warning before it reaches the moderate trigger level.
