silly question maybe but....Isnt 1.9 sec kind of harmful?

FYI A carrier launch goes from 0 to 165 MPH in about 2 seconds. I have read about issues with disorientation in fighter pilots, particularly at night. Not a good thing when you have to keep the plane out of the sea in the seconds after it clears the catapult. It may pay to practise some lower...

    Electric planes

Some pages back, Pipistel was mentioned. They do have an energy recovery system on their electric populsion system - they've coined the name 'prop-mill' to describe it. The propeller has wider blades than normal to allow it to be used as a generator. What is the scope for enregy recovery? As...

Range Anxiety Boils-Down to a Tow

You've got it in one. Speaking of planes and tow ropes. Many glider launches are done using another airplane (with a big engine) and a 100 foot nylon rope. I've done hundreds of these without crashing either the glider or tow plane even once. Automatic ICEs sometimes come with a warning about...

Range Anxiety Boils-Down to a Tow

So, If you're going to hitch a tow cable onto the front, why not charge the battery at the same time? The car can't tell difference between a steep grade and being dragged along. Just don't overdo it, causing the cable, your car or the tow vehicle problems. An an additonal benefit, the tow...

John Deere now makes better EVs than most auto companies.

Farming is possibly even more difficult an ask than aircraft. The tractor tends to get used intensively for a few weeks, often running 24 hours a day for, say 3 weeks, while dragging the seeder around. It will be extremely difficult to avoid liquid fuel use in this environment. Farmers will...

    Is HUD a bad idea?

This seems to be the point missed by most. I would add that the vehicle will be largely capable of driving itself, so the management, safety and navigation systems are doing all the work. Consequently, there's little need to have a wall of dials, gauges and warning lamps.

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Considering that this is for the solar cell AND electrolysis, it's actually very good. Almost good enough to lull one into thinking that the hydrogen economy has a chance. :)

    Porsche Mission E

800 Volt DC charging could be the "Hydrogen" of the EV World. It would seems that all the makers are converging on 300 to 400 volts DC, not to mention the chargers. Circontrol is a major maker, their designs are 500VDC max. CHAdeMO is 500VDC, DC Combo is 450VDC... You get the idea that...

    Why 'Fool' Cells.... WHY?

The best I could choose was 'delay the obsolescence of the ICE'. I suspect the reality is more sinister if we look at the beneficiaries of the hydrogen economy: 1) Infrastructure providers stand to win big from the rollout of the needed network 2) FF incumbents have a new product to sell so...

    Toyota 'Mirai' Fuel Cell Sedan

Hydrogen Economy Truths As a long time EV enthusiast, I have always found the hydrogen economy perplexing. Reading numerous 'well to wheels', actually 'wind-turbine to wheels' reports, the unanimous conclusion is that a H2 cycle require approximately 3 times the source energy of a comparable...

Auto Industry Playing Dirty With Hydrogen

This should read "Auto industry playing dopy with hydrogen" As many respondents have observed, the hydrogen numbers simply don't add up. It is overall much less efficient than electric distribution and storage in a windmill to wheels environment. The supposed 100KW automotive fuel stack...
