    2017.28

I noticed while driving with 2017.28 AP2 update that the symbol for the steer wheel in the drivers display will rotate as the steer wheel does when auto steer is active. I don't know if this happened on previous versions. Nice little touch.

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Took a road trip in White out conditions to Albert Lea and used the new supercharger. Highly recommend the beef and onion grilled sandwich at Appleby's.

Vancouver winter weather and the need for snow tires

The Michelin Primacy tires that come with the S 85, 19 inch, have a AA traction rating, the highest rating. They also have low rolling resistance and low tread wear.. Michelin markets them as a 360 degree tire, good for all. The list price at USD 360 each goes along with the great all around...

Realistic Range Expectations in Crummy Winter Weather

I made an Excel spreadsheet to estimate driving range for a given charge state, and average HVAC load. Only flat, and dry road conditions without wind are considered. The road load of the model s can be deduced from the curve in the Tesla website. Road load leads to a road power at each speed...

Anyone got a software update this week?

Ckessel -- if you reset the touchscreen display by holding both thumbwheels down for a few seconds, you may get the message to contact service.

Anyone got a software update this week?

Updated to 5.8.1.49.30 I updated on Dec 18 to 5.8 1.49.30. It took about 45 minutes. There was a notice that the update was not successful. After restarting the touchscreen , there was a notice to contact service. I was told there is a bug that leaves a door handle nonfunctioning on some...

    Winter driving observations

Every car, ICE or electric has its peculiar features and the Model S is no exception. Here are some features I have found as applied to winter driving. Maybe others can add their experiences: 1) Snow or ice accumulation on a parking assist sensor will result in a drivers notification that park...

Realistic Range Expectations in Crummy Winter Weather

I have been driving in the Minneapolis metro area where it has been =9 to + 5 degrees F for a few days. 20 to 30 mile trips will use around 600 Wh/mile, twice the rated range consumption. The conditions are conservative driving ( can't do much else in a snow storm), cabin temp 66 F, seat heaters...

Managing the charge cable from overhead

I thought I would share my solution for managing the Model S charging cable in my garage. For a number of reasons. I did not want to park the Model S next to the garage wall that had the 14-50 outlet. Instead, I wanted to park one stall away. However that involved some how bridging over another...

Playlist with art for USB flash drive?

"Album art is not used, instead the system pulls art over the air from one of the service providers. " You are right, the art is downloaded, even if it is already there as part of the mp3 metadata. I can tell because I had selected different art than what shows. Seems like a waste of bandwidth...

Playlist with art for USB flash drive?

I might be missing something with my 2 week old Model S, so I wonder if others have the same experience: I have loaded a flash drive with mp3 music files using iTunes. The music is arranged in folders to hopefully accomplish what a playlist does. I know if a song appears in more than one folder...

    Should I do annual service??

Value in annual service? I am not seeing the value in the $600 annual service. If I look at the Tesla annual service chart, I see that little is replaced and not much adjusted. Lots of visual, functional checks. Most are trivial ( like seat belts, horn, lighting, tread depth etc. ). I am...
