Share experience multiple years with Modesta coatings - anybody?

Curious about real-life multi-year experiences with Modesta. What works, doesn't work. Which coating you have (BC-0 ?), on paint only, or over PPF. Still struggle with water spots or not? Swirls/micro scratches? Ever had to deal with partial paint repair after initial coating? Ever...

Model X Autopilot Problem - Pretty Scary

So you decide to try out this new feature, with which you apparently completely failed to familiarize yourself, with your whole family in the car and set to 80 MPH? The problem is Human v2016 which is still in BETA. I'd opt for autopilot 7.1 but I don't get a choice. I want a recall of...

    Fatal autopilot crash, NHTSA investigating...

Wait...but here...they argue that having "a licensed driver who can take over"... even if driver fails to do so, is an adequate solution.

    Old farts reminiscing about computers

IBM 5110. I was 15. First job via high school work exp. program (bookkeeping service - data entry). Programs were written by part time freelance programmer and were extremely buggy. Boss was very frustrated by unresponsive programmer so, since I had taken basic programming in Jr. High...

    Firmware 6.2

I admit I don't have the patience to read all the prior posts. Maybe stating the obvious but, for any "classic" owners in the cheap seats (textile) there is no driver profile and ...therefore..no Valet mode. Maybe all newer cars have driver profiles. I honestly do not know. --------...

    Tesla leasing getting screwed

In this case it appears to be specific to Nevada. See Nevada Dept of Taxation. At a glance, saw 10% on short-term passenger vehicle leases. Seems they may have had to find some way to raise money in light of the "no income tax".

    Shuddering at low speeds

This may be completely n/a but I'll share an observation/thought. I don't know what features you have in your car, however, recently, I took my car in for routine biennial service and they gave me a loaner with all the new driver assist features. My car is early without the features...

    Opticoat and wraps

If you are concerned about real physical debris strikes and chips (which will happen no matter what you do), vandalism, then you need a wrap. None of the coatings will protect against those. Well, some coatings will help against certain types of vandalism but not harsh physical impacts.

Vendor You asked and we made it - Triple Chrome Nosecone Grill "NCG"

I'm not sure if there are any modern cars being made with much "real chrome" these days. Most of the trim is plastic if for nothing else but weight and cost of production. The name of this finish escapes me right now for some reason. Anyway, I believe plastic with a thin kind of metal...

Is damage to alloy rims from tire R&R or wheel alignment just inevitable?

Forgive my ignorance/inexperience since I don't usually have painted alloy rims, or at least none that I really cared much about keeping up. However, I'd be interested to hear from people with real first hand knowledge about these processes. What are reasonable expectations for avoiding...

Hand wash and microscratches: Any car wash recommendations in the West LA area?

It definitely seems like a losing battle. After 20 months I have essentially no swirls and not many micro scratches. There is a certain amount of that happening when driving with misc debris moving across the paint while in motion anyway. However, it's taken far too much of my life to try to...

Would I still get the federal 7,500 Tax Credit???

CA may also work with you since you are replacing with another qualified vehicle. We had asked them a couple years ago when we got PIP and were thinking about getting the Tesla. They indicated it was possible. We never put it to the test as we kept PIP for 2nd car but you should ask them.

Paint Correction and Modesta Coating by SpeedFreak in Chantilly, VA

Cool. Please try to find time to report back your experience over time with Modesta on the film with the self healing and also just the coating's micro marring and water spot resistance. It's really great to see the cars when they are new and just corrected and coated but I'd love to...

Paint Correction and Modesta Coating by SpeedFreak in Chantilly, VA

Beautiful. Was Modesta applied to the Suntek also or just everywhere else?
