If you are concerned about real physical debris strikes and chips (which will happen no matter what you do), vandalism, then you need a wrap. None of the coatings will protect against those. Well, some coatings will help against certain types of vandalism but not harsh physical impacts.

I'm not sure if there are any modern cars being made with much "real chrome" these days. Most of the trim is plastic if for nothing else but weight and cost of production. The name of this finish escapes me right now for some reason. Anyway, I believe plastic with a thin kind of metal...

CA may also work with you since you are replacing with another qualified vehicle. We had asked them a couple years ago when we got PIP and were thinking about getting the Tesla. They indicated it was possible. We never put it to the test as we kept PIP for 2nd car but you should ask them.
