Audi vs Jaguar vs Tesla - Globe and Mail

Agreed, although a major interior redesign is a huge project. I dont think people spending $100k plus will tolerate an implementation of the Model 3 interior layout. My concern is the insanity of getting the Model 3 rolled out without bankrupting the company has meant that every other project...

Audi vs Jaguar vs Tesla - Globe and Mail

It doesn’t read like an Audi press release any more than the typical automotive journalist “first look / first drive” review. These pieces tend to be a bit less critical. The range is very disappointing on the Audi, but the interior design and (I assume) build quality are light years ahead of...

    Selling my 2017 MS 100D

Free supercharging, but only for the original owner. I'm sure that can be fixed with a referral? It is a 2.5 vehicle, yes.

    Selling my 2017 MS 100D

Selling my 2017 MS 100D so thought I would see if anyone here is interested. My new vehicle is arriving later this month, so I either need to find a private buyer or will be trading in the vehicle. The deal will be done as a "courtesy trade" through the new dealer (which allows me to offset the...

    Solar canopy superchargers

The solar canopies would provide a tiny fraction of the energy required to run the superchargers. I'm guessing the cost of install is just not worth it. Over 80% of Canada's electricity comes from hydro, nuclear and non-hydro renewables, so there is minimal environmental benefit from it either.

Starting to regret FSD pre-purchase in a major way

The more I think about it, the more I think this concept of FSD "features" is far more dangerous than the risks of people ignoring the nags on EAP. Regardless of the name, Autopilot is pretty clearly understood by most users as what it is -- advanced cruise control that is not a substitute for...

Starting to regret FSD pre-purchase in a major way

True, but since FSD has been on the market, not a single buyer has received a single feature in return for their cash (i.e. there is no precedent for anyone getting some kind of truly privileged access to Tesla software features). So you have to assume that what Elon said in August is, unlike...

    V9 imminent?

I got it over LTE. Wifi signal is too weak behind our house for the car to connect reliably.

Starting to regret FSD pre-purchase in a major way

I was initially very down on Elon and Tesla for the way FSD was positioned. It was never marketed as funding its own development but rather as something that existed, but couldn't be activated because of regulatory issues. This was clearly untrue, misleading and probably illegal under various...

Seeking opinions: Upgrade now to FSD or wait?

I understand your point, I'm simply saying that you are all-but guaranteed not to get FSD since no Tesla sold today has the hardware or software to truly drive itself in the real world with the complexity of pedestrians and cyclists and cops doing hand traffic signals, etc., etc., no matter what...

Seeking opinions: Upgrade now to FSD or wait?

I don't think you'd be able to find a single expert in self-driving / autonomy who believes that any Tesla has the hardware for true self-driving. Tesla is so far ahead in terms of what they actually have: a complete range of electric cars that can be driven every day by anyone who has a...

Seeking opinions: Upgrade now to FSD or wait?

Personally I think it's reckless of Tesla to continue to allude to their progress in autonomy, when all the signs indicate that they aren't remotely a leader in this area. It encourages people to think of AP as more than advanced cruise control, and likely promotes a false sense of confidence in...

Seeking opinions: Upgrade now to FSD or wait?

I love my MS 100D, but I continue to find the discussions about FSD bizarre. It seems pretty obvious that it doesn't exist at all, and that there is no prospect of it existing for years, even leaving aside the regulatory issues. I know the cameras vs. LIDAR issue has been beaten to death, but it...

Vancouver Delivery; the dark and dirty

I've bought many new cars, ranging in price from a $20k VW to a $95k Volvo, and my almost new $120k Model S. All of the new vehicles were immaculately clean and well presented. Yes, dealers have cars sitting on lots or storage yards for weeks or months, but they clean and detail them prior to...

Vancouver Delivery; the dark and dirty

This kind of comment is why views on Tesla are so polarized. OP makes a completely reasonable statement about a poor delivery experience, and you jump on him. I really don't understand why so many are unable to comprehend that it's possible to love Tesla's cars but be critical of the many areas...
