General "Should I Wait for Upgrades" Thread

Can you confirm it is actually active and you can turn it on? There seems to be some question here as to whether it is just coming with the hardware and they may charge later to activate or it is actually functional now?

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

I made a second attempt at replacement after getting the usual runaround a month ago. I had timestamp/video of screen blacking out temporarily and this time they replaced. Relevant section of service invoice below. Concern: Something else - customer states: I continue to experience issues with...

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

Wow, I did not realize how difficult this would be to get fixed. I guess the only ‘easy’ path is upgrading to MCU2?

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

I may just pay for it to save myself further frustration. Announcement is still relatively new though so I’ll give it a little bit. It is just the principal of it all - really hoping Tesla will eventually grow up and do the right thing. Of course I’ve been down this road before with the...

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

I tried to schedule a service appointment after the notice was published and described all of the usual symptoms. They contacted me today and said their diagnosis says it is fine and these are ‘other software issues’ that they are releasing fixes for. I said that’s great - what release will...

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

It will be interesting to see if they offer discounted MCU2 upgrades related to this issue. At $1750, which someone previously got, I would consider it.

Charging Issue: HPWC or On-board Charger

Very helpful - and nice to know I'm not the only one dealing with some sporadic! I've been thinking along similar lines of it has something to do with sleep as I have never seen a single failure when set to charge right away. I had not considered the MCU. I struggle to reconcile that it both...

Charging Issue: HPWC or On-board Charger

I thought I had heard, and possibly read on the forums, that the 2nd gen Wall Charger only had a 12-month warranty. However, I just stumbled across this page on Tesla's site which shows "48 month warranty". Second Generation Wall Connector Can anyone clarify for me?

Charging Issue: HPWC or On-board Charger

I did not look at those leds unfortunately. Only one time I recall, and I believe it was the loaner, things were so 'dead' that I had to turn off the breaker to the charger to get it out. That was not normal even when the overnight charging failed though. I have only seen it happen when I...

Charging Issue: HPWC or On-board Charger

Here is a picture of the HPWC. Nothing stands out to me visually.

Charging Issue: HPWC or On-board Charger

I am having a intermittent issue charging using my HPWC. I usually have it setup for scheduled charge at 3am. Occasionally, when I went out in the morning and the vehicle was non-responsive. After trying to turn it on I will eventually get some message like “unable to charge”, “car needs...

    Pirelli tires for 20s

Thought I would share my experience in case anyone else stumbles upon this thread and is considering Pirelli's. I went with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus as well. They were $926 including installation at Discount Tire. My main concern was the noise switching from 'ContiSilents'...

    Nexen tires?

I'm looking for all-season tires and have not been thrilled with the Continentals. Has anyone rolled the dice on these Nexen tires? Reviews on Amazon are good but who knows what reviewers are comparing them to and I have not seen much elsewhere. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QJ6NJ4I...

Double vision (ghosting) at night through windshield?

How did things turn out for you? Similar offer here....I pay for the windshield ($930) and they would install it no cost. I still have trouble accepting that I need to pay to resolve their quality issue. Tesla's handling of this issue, especially their BS statement about 'within spec'...

    Tesla owner configurations begin

Well, if they are really inviting owners that reserved a week ago then that certainly gives credence to the view that they are through most of the owners. It also reinforces to me that my reservation is still screwed up. Owner, 3/31 pre-reveal reservation, still not invited:( Been talking to...
