    Used Powerwall - worth it?

Thanks for the comments. Super helpful in keeping me away from this! Apparently it was used as a display model in a company that went out of business. So it might be good, but a lot of headache for me to test and then try to install it without having already purchased a single PW. Anyone in...

    Used Powerwall - worth it?

Hi all, Wasn't looking for one, but just came across a used Powerwall 2. Just the battery. Assuming the battery itself is in good condition, is this worth my time to investigate? I do not own any Tesla stuff, but it would be nice to have a battery back up, at least for necessary things, as we...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Also, it shows a level of maturity, I think, if we can be objective about it. I love seeing perspectives of people with real-life experience in both cars. I definitely give more credence to voices that aren't so obviously biased, on this and chevybolt.org.

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Agreed! But people like their teams. (Go Cowboys! or something.) Had thought of this. Guess without much research I assumed I'd only get 40 miles out of one, which I think would be a hindrance. Might be easier to by a $5k ICE-bucket. Would need to test drive a few to see, I suppose. The...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Thanks for all the advice. I made an appointment to test drive a Model 3. Also, jeez. Big spreadsheet with numbers, but I didn't add properly... thanks for the reminder. :)

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Great idea. With Geico, adding the Bolt to our current plan would cost $420/6 months, whereas the Model 3 is $720 (about $100 less with a $1000 deductible instead of $500). So more, but not bad.

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

The RWD non-performance single-motor version without EAP (the current base). And how do you know it's guaranteed? Site says might be 4 months, which is outside the limit for the tax rebate? And yes, I will qualify for the full tax credit.

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Thanks everyone for the feedback. 1. Model 3 - use it for 8 years, rain or shine, long or short distance. 2. Bolt - use it for 5-8 years depends on evolving usage needs and future charging infrastructure (though fast charging is less fast). Good for anything not between cities here in Texas. 3...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

That's a good point. I had put away the idea of a Volt without much looking into it. Looks like 35 miles of electric range. Not good enough for all my trips, but maybe many of them right now. Don't drive much yet given working from home, but will want something. My wife and I have an Accord, but...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

This thread has made me consider this option, even without the currently-legislated tax benefit. As far as I can tell, the base Model 3 is at least 6 months away, but could be longer. Plus, there's the waiting list. Not sure I see myself in this car for at least another year, which makes a...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Agreed, I test-drove a Bolt and came away quite impressed. My wife actually prefers the way it looks to a Model 3 probably because it looks more "normal". Also, having her learn the 1-screen-only driving might not be awesome. Right now I don't drive much as I work from home, but the tax...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Thanks for the responses. Indeed, a new Model 3 with the tax incentive is close enough to used Model S prices to be worth the switch. But now it's $12-13k more than a bolt, after the rebates and whatnot (and without EAP). The site says 2-4 months delivery time. That's dangerously close to the...

Used Model S or New Chevy Bolt

Hi everyone, Read a few posts on here about this question, and learned some stuff, but had a few other questions. I'm looking to enter the EV world. I'm leaning towards the Bolt, but thought I'd see what others here think about it. Living in Texas, I can get $10k in rebates or tax credits on a...
