    Fifhting Fossil Fuel Industry Disinformation

Petroleum refining does indeed take an enormous amount of electricity, and is a factor that the anti-ev types rarely include in their arguments. That said, the exact amount of electricity required - and where it comes from - is difficult to pin down. There is an old but long and detailed...

What came first, your EV car or the L2 charger?

My first BEV was a used 2003 RAV4-EV. It technically came with a 240V L2 charger, but I didn't have a 240V outlet for it so I just plugged it in to a 120V L1 outlet. We had two 240V outlets installed a few months later, just before getting our second BEV (a Roadster). Even though I had the 240...

When did model x get self presenting doors

Yes, that part was clear - no premium package, no self-presenting door. What I meant was that it wasn't clear if you would lose more than that without the package, such as the ability of the driver's door to close when you tap the brake pedal. All of the electronic door functions were described...

When did model x get self presenting doors

Yup. Without the package, everything is the same except the door doesn't automatically open when the fob approaches. This was not clear in the package description back in 2017...I thought we would lose a lot of functionality by not getting the package, but we ended up missing out on very...

When did model x get self presenting doors

When I bought a Dec 2017 X 100D, self-presenting doors were an option...and we did not take it. The doors still opened and closed electronically, just not automatically based on fob proximity.

EV tax credit and EV charger credit

You can look up your census tract HERE. Enter your address, then look for GEOID under "Census Tracts". If that 11-digit number is in the IRS' Appendix A or B (one for rural tracts, one for low income - you only have to be in one of them, see HERE) then you can take the credit. Mine isn't; too...

Wall connector charger questions (install, tax credits, etc)

For the EVSE installation credit (this does not apply to other items): You can look up your census tract HERE. Enter your address, then look for GEOID under "Census Tracts". If that 11-digit number is in the IRS' Appendix A or B (one for rural tracts, one for low income - see HERE) then you can...

    License plates

As others have noted, this likely differs by state. For me in WA, most of my Teslas (including the X we bought two months ago) the plates have arrived the day before the temp tags expire. I know at least one (perhaps more) was early, and one was a few days late.

They are the TSS "arachnid" style.

Rivian R1S Kia EV9 will supposedly be available soon

    EV6 GT Range at 0F

Thanks for the details. How long were the stops at the gym and dmv? Asking because if the car got a lot of time to cool down, a lot of energy goes in to warming it up again.

    Round Trip Estimate

It has been there for years, but it hasn't - at least in the past - always been shown. I can't remember the trigger to get it to show up now - you either have to stop charging, or start driving, or remove charging stops, or something like that. I know in the past I've wished it was shown without...

    Phantom Battery Drain - 6% a day

We also picked up an MXLR in late November. No such battery drain issues with our car.
