    Chronic critical errors

Does anyone know where I can find information on Model S's software system diagram? i.e. how CPU memory space is utilized and how it's recycled?

    Chronic critical errors

In August 2018, they replaced the rear drive harness and inverter, it didn't help; 3 months ago, when this problem reoccurred after last year's "fixes" (replacing several other harnesses), they told me they need to replace the rear drive unit, and gave me an estimate of $8,000. I didn't accept...

    Chronic critical errors

Yes, the 12V battery was replaced in Nov 2019, along with the main HV battery, it didn't fix the problem.

    Chronic critical errors

I bought my Model S P85D in December 2014, and for the first two years, it worked fine without any major issues. However, starting from March 2017, it started to have random yet serious problems. The car would randomly generate critical errors, displaying multiple error messages while losing...

Reversing sensor display frozen for 10 seconds; nearly damaged the car

Using animation probably won't work because if the whole screen freezes, nothing (including warning/animation) gets updated in time. Rebooting makes sense. Or a watchdog thread should blacken/disable the display temporarily -- assuming screen brightness control is independent of video rendering...

Reversing sensor display frozen for 10 seconds; nearly damaged the car

Pretty sure sensor wasn't the issue here. it's the CPU that was stuck processing something else, e.g. memory swapping etc, as if time slowed time from CPU's perspective. For a real-time system, this is not supposed to happen. If it's not a bug, then the whole system is fundamentally unsound.

Reversing sensor display frozen for 10 seconds; nearly damaged the car

Same thing happened to me today, I wasn't as lucky as you were and backed into the side of my Volvo :( Frozen video in backup camera

    Frozen video in backup camera

Yes, the first picture was the Volvo I backed into, it shows far more damage than my S.

    Frozen video in backup camera

This morning I backed into another car because of frozen video and guidelines in the backup camera, there was definitely something going on w/ the computer because it took many times longer to start before this happened. I wonder if this is a well known issue and I'm just an unlucky victim of...

    Tesla's hidden treasure

wow, it looks like they already have a "master plan" in place: Teslas master plan uses its drivers to map every lane on the road - Quartz

    Tesla's hidden treasure

well, facial recognition sounds even more intrusive than license plate reader. Anyway, it's my belief that much like the Interstate Highway Project to car travelling, having a database of important aspects driving on every road in the world is essential to autonomous cars. The first mover...

    Tesla's hidden treasure

With a large fleet of autopilot/self driving cars on the road, Tesla may just created its most valuable resource yet-- road, traffic, driving data. If properly strategized and planned, this can be the most powerful weapon for Tesla to maintain its competitiveness. A good self driving...

Autopilot lane keeping still not available over 6 months after delivery

This makes a lot of sense. It's actually quite illogical not doing that. With open source APIs such as Waze and Google Map and Tesla's centralized server, it shouldn't be difficult to do. - - - Updated - - - Just got another 6.2 update on P85D today, looks like v7.0 won't be here at least for...
