New Model Y interior smells like chemicals/coolant/paint when parked for awhile

Change the air filters. The carbon in the filters can take on a sweet paint-like chemical smell as they age.

    Open door, alarm goes off

You said this only happens at home. I vaguely recall a discussion in which this was found to happen after using summon. And this has happened to me back when I owned a S. Not sure if it’s still an issue. Are you using summon when parking in the garage?

MyQ Connected Garage - Opens, but won't close garage doors

Yes I’ve used the myQ app on my phone. It also causes the opener to flash the lights and beep, but that is as designed. It is not supposed to do that from a Tesla. I think it depends how far from my garage door I am when my car sends the close command. If I back out of the garage reeeeaalllly...

MyQ Connected Garage - Opens, but won't close garage doors

I have a Chamberlain garage door opener with built-in Wi-Fi and myQ functionality. I also have strong Wi-Fi in and near my garage. My opener has built-in lighting (no bulbs to mess with). So everything is myQ compatible. Yet the Tesla myQ interface still doesn’t close the garage door reliably...

My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

Solved! … I think. As I stated in my previous posts, I removed the interior cabin filters. I then cleaned the evaporator coils, and together this seemed to remove the smell for the last week or two. But then it rained a lot today and the vinegar/wet feet smell was strong without recirculate...

My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

That’s a good point about recirculation. Although I pulled out the filters shortly after my last post, and they looked perfectly clean after one year. So they probably aren’t filtering much, at least under the conditions that I drive. While the filters themselves had no discernible smell and...

My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

This just occurred to me… since I have a HEPA filter in the frunk, is there any reason why I shouldn’t just remove the interior cabin filters altogether? What are they protecting against? Are they needed?

My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

Ok, cleaner and cabin filters on order…

My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

Thanks, all. Good advice. I’m starting to suspect a refrigerant leak. While my AC works fine, I’ve read that a paint smell might indicate a leak. Perhaps there could be a leak small enough to not noticeably affect AC but still be detectable by smell.

My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

Update per my previous concerns about HVAC smell: I’ve had my 2022 Y LR a little over a year, and it now has the smell. and it’s getting pretty bad. I always run the HVAC in auto mode. I found that running the HVAC five minutes before entering the car each time would generally clear the smell...

Charge Port opens in Car Wash. Anyone have this happen?

It worked for me several times, until it didn’t. I was positioned in the wash and put it in free roll mode, and while waiting for the rollers to start pushing my car, it went back to drive/hold or park (not sure which) without warning. Anyway, the rollers starting going under my wheels and...

Charge Port opens in Car Wash. Anyone have this happen?

I’ve had similar problems as you with car wash mode. It’s unreliable. I’ll have to experiment with your method, thanks for the tip. I didn’t realize simply putting it in neutral would disable the charge port and wipers.

    Could not shift into drive

Agreed. And I asked them to review the log remotely but they said I needed to come in to the service center.

    Could not shift into drive

After I initiated a service appointment, the service center asked me to bring my car in to inspect in person. They were pretty responsive. They wrote “replace accelerator pedal” in the work order, and through messaging they confirmed that was probably not the issue and simply wrote that as a...

    Could not shift into drive

Yeah, my understanding is all of the unintended acceleration events have been found to be pedal misapplication. Can happen to the best of us in a panic situation. In this case, my car was in park and didn’t move, obviously. I repeated the shift-out-of-park process multiple times, with plenty of...
