I've had mine drop a few times; each time the fix was to reboot using the two school wheels and brake (holding all three down at the same time). I opened a ticket with Tesla to make them aware, but they haven't responded with a fix yet. I notice the latest update hasn't had the issue as much.

My current car, an Acura TSX, was originally in the $30k+ range when new and I consider it considerably less finished than the Model 3 photo posted here. Other cars in the price range look similar. This really isn't a concern in my book.

If I understood correctly, Tesla may use vroom.com to handle non-Tesla trade-ins behind the scenes. You might check with them directly to get an idea. CarMax would be another safe bet.
