2022 Model 3 Performance trade up to 2023 Model S Plaid - handling differences

I really appreciate this comment. I've got a '21 Model 3 Performance (lowered on TSportLine springs), and have been thinking of upgrading to a Model S Plaid. The points you make are the EXACT things I dislike about my car and were curious about. Lack of punch above 60mph, noisy cab, lack of...

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

Yeah, okay. That does make sense in my head. Thanks for calming me down on the whole 'knuckle deflection' idea I was heading towards!

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

Yeah, now that's I'm looking through and reading their measurements, they have a very wide and tall 255/35R20. I wonder why. And I agree, the 245/35R20 is surprisingly smaller. How would you even know if it has horrible noise? My Model 3 is the loudest vehicle I own. ha ha That's comparing to a...

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

I will say, these tires are very quiet for a non-acoustic mat tire. I also did some further knuckle and hub testing. Basically I welded some large nuts to a rod I had lying around so I could put them on the hub with lug nuts holding it firmly in place and actuate the assembly with some force...

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

I ended up with 245/35R20's. It doesn't make sense, they should only give 3.5mm extra clearance to the knuckle, but they give about 15mm. Just goes to show that tire sizes are more of a guideline than a true measurement. MICHELIN PILOT SPORT ALL SEASON 4 - 255/35R20 on hoist: MICHELIN PILOT...

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

On the MN comment, I agree. We'd get 3-4 weeks of actual 35deg below freezing before windchill. I like MI winters better. And Discount Tire Co. I may have convinced them it was their fault since they recommended this tire and the last tire was the same size and fit.

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

Sure, I was just surprised to see the tires get any closer on the top when set onto the ground. I'm with you, I'm not going to run low pressure on these roads. I used to live in MN and the roads were significantly nicer there. I'm guessing this is mostly brand to brand and model to model tire...

Front hubs going bad at 25k?

Hello guys, I have a 2021 Model 3 Performance and recently got new tires. I went with some 355/35R20's and had a few mm's clearance to the upper control arm mounting on the knuckle. After I let the car down off the hoist, the knuckle either deflected some or the hub deflected some and the...

    Lowering Springs for 2021 M3P

They took some cleaning up, but I'm really happy with the styling on them. They've held up great for the last year or so! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W6NZ25H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    275/30R20's on a M3P?

ha ha thanks for the compliment. Honestly, if you wanted to do a staggered setup, 275's would probably fit on the rear, but... the wheels are 9" (228.6mm) wheels. 10" (254mm) or 10.5" (266.7mm) wheels would work better. I'm pretty happy with the results. I will say, I went with a very toe...

    275/30R20's on a M3P?

I went with these. Couldn't be happier. Slightly more grip than the OEM PZero's (due to width I'm sure), they look better, cheaper, and they're great in the snow/ice! I have no rubbing or anything, but I think a 275 would be really tight. Also, I told the car I have the race tires on there and...

    Lowering Springs for 2021 M3P

Ha ha I think we're in similar shape on this stuff. Capable, have the tools, have the extra vehicle, no longer really enjoy working on stuff but don't trust others to. Working from home definitely helps. I was able to do the shop prep the day before on my lunch break. Tools, stands, cleared off...

    Lowering Springs for 2021 M3P

Yeah, definitely nothing unique about the Tesla suspension compared to anything else. In fact, the suspension is pretty basic and cheap compared to most since it's an upper and lower control arm vs a 4-link (virtual ball joint) design like you'd see on Audi or other OEMs. Get yourself some...
