    Sales tax error

This has happened to me twice - in 2018 on a new Model 3 they charged a bit over $200 in extra sales tax. The error was caught at when registering at the local tax collector. After contacting Tesla they ran the numbers admitted fault, and issued a refund check after months of time spent having...

    245 40 19 tires efficiency

Michelin MXM4s in the 19" OEM width have a nice lip to them to prevent curb rash. At least when I got a set two years ago from Costco

Real world charging speed on 5-20 @ 110v

I get 5 mph on a 5-15, so you should realistically get 6-7 mph on a 5-20. Keep in mind this will go down if you live in a cold weather area. Regular wall outlets worked for me until I got a J1772 charger. You just have to remember to plug the car in every time you are home.

Increasing range by going with skinny tires?

I really think that the 18" Aeros are going to be the best bet to get a real world 10%+ bump in efficiency. My LR RWD had a 230 wh/mile with aero wheels, and is now around 255 wh/mile with aftermarket 19's. Those lifetime numbers are a mix of city and highway driving, so the highway portion...

What's with the Ohmmu 12V battery?

Well, like clockwork with a bit over two years of ownership in hot Florida weather, Mobile Service just came to replace a failed 12V battery under warranty. In a few more years I’ll definitely be curious how people’s Ohmmu’s are holding up and possibly purchase one once my cars warranty expires...

    14-30 charge adapter - 110v/120v capable?

I've seen people on this forum mis-wire a 14-50 and inadvertently put a hot wire on the neutral (unused) and the neutral wire in the hot terminal, then ask why their car was charging at 32A/120V. So that leads me to believe that if you were to only connect three wires (correctly) to a 14-30 plug...

    M3 LR range is 322?

On the RWD it used to be 310 then a software update pushed it to 325. On the AWD I think it’s always been 322. There are no official highway/city ratings that I’m aware of. The only thing I’ve seen is MPGe ratings on the EPA website

    Still baffled by range issue

Air Conditioning still impacts ICE vehicles fuel economy. There are several SAE papers that suggest up to 25% decrease in fuel economy in ICE depending on the length of trip and how hard the A/C is run. Whether the A/C compressor is belt driven in an ICE or a motor in an EV, it still takes a...

BRAND new M3 Standard range. What is the max?

Just an estimate. It can vary a bit based on environmental things like temperature, wheels, consumption history, etc

    Wireless Charging Options

Running high power USB-C into a wireless charger won’t make it any quicker on an iPhone. All iPhones have a 7.5W wireless charging limit, so the 10W output of the cars front USB ports with micro USB cables going to the 10W wireless chargers in the Taptes pad will max out the phone capability...

    Wireless Charging Options

For the money, the Taptes seems to be the best option. Mine has worked flawlessly so far. Similar to the Tesla/Nomad for way less money. The Taptes does have a short USB-C cord integrated into the ledge if you ever want to charge corded similar to what you do now. It also includes all the...

Charging issues with my Model 3

On the main electrical panel in your house you need to locate the circuit that the wall connector is on. Hopefully the electrician labeled it. Take note of the circuit breaker rating printed on the breaker. Then turn off the circuit for a few seconds and turn it back on to reboot the wall...

Charging issues with my Model 3

Is it a Gen 3 (one they currently sell) wall connector? You may have to use the WiFi setup to tell the connector what circuit power it is hooked up to. I’m not sure but it may default to the lowest setting. Can you post a picture of your charging screen? Also make sure the amps are not limited...

    Wall connector or 14-50 socket

I will admit the wall connectors look cool, but I prefer the 14-50 for several reasons: - Industrial 14-50 outlet is $100, a $400 savings - If I ever sell the house I can simply unplug and go, instead of removing a wall connector and capping the circuit. - They can be used to power basically...
