When is the DMV going to get a viable third-party mechanic/shop?

I agree. It would be great to have someplace competent and willing to work on Roadsters. Any time I can get one of the Tesla Service Centers to work on my Roadster, I end up having to source and buy the parts for them.

    HVAC: Low Current Pump Failure

Just to give a quick update... I drove the Roadster to the Tyco Service Center with no issues. I watched the temperature bars, and the battery stayed steady in the 2nd bar. At some point during the drive, the pump started running (because, of course, issues must become intermittent when going...

    HVAC: Low Current Pump Failure

Thanks, Larry. From what you had posted before, I wasn't certain that your pump had completely failed before going to the Service Center. Thanks, @ML Auto! I had guessed this was the case, but still understandably nervous. I think I'm going to go for it. Might park outside Thursday night to...

    HVAC: Low Current Pump Failure

My 1.5 Roadster's Coolant Pump has now failed (Alert #1425). My local Service Center no longer works on Roadsters, but I've managed to get an appointment at the Tyson's Corner VA Service Center, about a 15 mile drive. I tried topping up the coolant just in case that was the problem, but the...

Maryland State Inspection - Model 3

Membercar (MemberCar - Serving Rockville, MD), right around the corner from the Rockville Service Center, has done these inspections in the past. Give them a call.

What did you park next to? (Or what makes the Roadster look tiny?)

At our monthly Tesla Tuesday gathering last night, a Ford F-150 Lightning EV pulled in next to me.

    Just too dang hot?

I wouldn't say that it is resolved, but I have learned to manage the problem. After the "PEM Correction", which was the fourth time they told me the problem was solved, the behavior changed. Now, the #972 error (almost) never occurs while driving, but instead while stopping or stopped. It also...

2022 Roadster Roundup (for original Roadsters)

Really wish I could make it, but it's a long haul from Maryland. Perhaps we can organize an East Coast Roadster Roundup based on yours.

    Cooling cycle non-stop?

I don't. After all, at low SOC (Why did I say POC before? That's what I get for trying to multitask.) the cells should be safe for storage at significantly higher temperatures.

    Cooling cycle non-stop?

During the summer, I try to bring the Roadster in at 40% POC or a bit less. Somewhere between 39% and 33%, the sleep temperature threshold eases and allows the car to go to sleep, even in the summer heat. It seems that the lower the POC, the higher the temperature threshold.

1086 "Charging Problem" error. Car stuck at 99% cooled. (R80)

That tracks with what I'm seeing with the early 3.0 battery in my 1.5. In the Summer, the only way I can get the pump to stop is by waiting for SOC to drop below 40%.

Open Vehicle Monitor System (OVMS) - Technical Discussion

I'm guessing that's it. I tried again this morning, and got 3.3.002. Now, to swap the Modem boards...

Open Vehicle Monitor System (OVMS) - Technical Discussion

I'm a little confused. When should I upgrade to v3.3.001? Before or after the Modem board swap? I just switched my firmware setup to edge, downloaded what appeared to be 3.3.001, but on reboot I have two partitions with 3.2.018 installed.

    OVMS Module and Cooldown

Yes, these can be changed. Bear with me, I'm doing this from memory, so it might not be exactly right. I set the temp limit to 30, rather than the default, this has always worked well for me. Use the command "config set xtr cooldown.templimit 30" (obviously, substitute your own value for 30)...

    OVMS Module and Cooldown

I'm going to guess that your OVMS is v3. The old in-app parameters were for OVMS v2. To initiate cooldown on OVMS v3, go to the Messages tab, and enter the command "CHARGE COOLDOWN"
